No not blocking off. Cold air and more air. Mind you, wouldn't suggest this mod for a street car yet THIS ISn't any-longer that is for sure. Everything is spaced out awesome. Prior to this change we had overheating issues at the Time Attack in April and December. Not at Cal-speedway after the mod.
WHY:
As a matter of fact Tanner Foust actually asked us to experiment with something like this for he too was experiencing OVERHEATING.
So we haven't yet worked on his AEM car, yet at least we have a FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER TO BEAT up on.
High RPMs
And it gets beat. Three different drivers have pounded this car session after session. 5-7500 RPM for 25 minutes straight.
Not perfect yet, yet we are working and having fun with this one...

suggest changing name to Yellow Jacket, Hornet, or Wasp cuz those suckers are aggressive and keep stinging until their prey dies.. sorta what you're aiming for metaphorically on the track, no?

I'm still suprised that you guys don't experience overheating. The air has to flow around the huge airbox, the y-pipe, intercooler, the oil cooler and the PS cooler in order to just get to the radiator at which point it doesn't look like there is much for diversion panels if any to direct airflow.
Either way props on the work and if you guys don't have any issues with overheating even better!
Good luck and please take my statement as constructive criticism.

HEAT HEAT HEAT...What to do with all this heat?
Note:
This car we are using it as a canvas that not only goes fast, plays to win.
Creativity:
It is nice to take an idea and just try things to see if they work. If not, go back to the way they were. The JWT set-up works, just not alot of room to help with cooling. If we were the only team dealing with the issue, fine, yet we aren't
AGAIN HEAT:
Most of the high WHP cars competing on the Time Attack and competitive Drift levels playing to win have had these same issues. For the most part - I have talked to them or they have contacted us to help find long-term solutions.
Thanks again and have a wonderful day.

Very nice, Michael; and congratulations on driving up to the top 3s.
You mentioned ".......detuned for Time Attack to 750 WHP with even larger turbos...;" did you mean larger than the BB-700/s?
That is some intake you have there, and the size of the radiators.
The "Redline Time Attack" concept is ideal; as there is no chance of another gung-ho driver smashing into you. Over here I have seen drivers crashing into parked cars, which happened up at the Pocono NASCAR tracks, last year.
The other issue is installing a roll cage that is up to specs; yet something I can live with, as I am reluctant giving up being streetable.
Who was the grabby one, was that Mike B giving that blond shell a little squeeze….nice.

Yes...larger than the 700s. Lets call them 1000s. Coming soon with the help of JWT...
Driver was Tanner Faust...assuming that is what you are talking about. Radiator is a modified koyo with three channels for cool redirection. Testing this concept and if it works we will manufacture our own.

Can't wait to hear more about this JWT monster, as I am curious to see how it fits, how much bigger it is compared to the 700/s; whether the chassis had to be modified to accommodate the size.
Which fuel delivery system did you have in your cars that were competing in the redline time attack events?
I see VRT is doing some great stuff
I was planning to drive down to Santa Barbara in July for a wedding, then swing down to San Diego to visit you guys and Brian Crower’s setup and swing east to JWT; but looking at my schedule and time constrains I might just have to fly in and out of Santa Barbara.
Keep us appraised off the big one.
Thanks Michael

Will start a new thread on the current build. We are just under the gun to finish and still be ready to compete.
Taking the street car out of thing
Fuel cell
1000 CC Injectors
Will provide picts, video and more in time.
Thanks

We have them for other clients as we are making one as well as just finished another roll-cage set-up. Just have an issue of how to ship it.
We are also making a bottom-car underbracing system that will further the rigidity of the cars. (will show picts ASAP) Just a bunch of Mad Scientist work to IMPROVE our vehicles handling and chassis. Fun stuff.
We will find a solution if you are truly interested.
Please PM your information.

We have raced consistently 550 to the wheel ON RACE FUEL ONLY WITH A STOCK motor with only Headwork.
As long as a motor doesn't detonate, this is possible yet some great tuning and love is taken for this activity.
I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR, I do not recommend a stock motor at these levels for any of my customer cars...This car is a race-car and the motor was expendable if it broke. It didn't and for that we have been grateful...Yet without Race-fuel the motor would have died within minutes with its hard pounding.
This is one of the reasons why we have been so specific on handling heat...Heat effectively is detonation...Detonation is heat...Have this and you have disaster.
However, the car is getting a built motor for the higher WHP which is currently underway at this time.

Car is quite a project, Michael! I'll have a better look at the cage and other safety gear when we get to Buttonwillow. IF you have the cross bars, that might suffice. So the 700BBs are not enough? Going with 1000s??? Crazy power! But then we might just have enough power then to break the Unlimited Class speed record in the fall at the Silver State!
Hey "Sinner!" LOL... Don't worry about being down on power, Mike. In the street class, on street tires, I'm not sure yet that I can put all that power down anyway! Throttle control out of corners will be critical. Thankfully, that is usually something that I am good at, but it will certainly be more tricky to drive than before. At least I will finally be UP to your power level!
It will be fun either way. I hope that the both of us have better luck this time at BW than last time! (And I don't even want to think about what happened to me at Cal Speedway... )
We need to show those Mustangs and S2000s that we can play there at BW too!

If you were at one of these time attacks and saw the drivers (Billy Johnson, Tanner Faust, Aaron Bitterman) just "killing" that car you would be even more amazed that it was stock guts. Just awesome. But absolutely at the next level it has to be built motor or somebody will be pulling crankshaft and piston parts out of their livers. With a low compression racing piston, rods, cams etc set up with big turbos....it will be a monster.
