Default I have a vision (Z33Art)...here it is!

As you guys know I have been working on my "Z33Art" supercharger project which includes all one-off parts of great quality. It also utilizes a V-mount intercooler radiator setup.

Since it takes money to do a project and time to design parts I have been going as quickly as possible and am in the process of making the front end of my car. I have the intercooler and I will be getting the end tanks for my radiator soon and will be mocking it up to see what size core I can fit and then sending it back to the manufacturer to have the core welded in after I have welded all the fittings and inlet/outlet in the desired location.

Anyways, what I have are rendered pictures of the supercharger piping and v-mount setup minus the SC and some of the sheet metal ducting that will direct airflow since if I added that stuff it would cluster the renderings. Based off the pictures though everything will be ducted nicely so that airflow goes directly to the radiator and to the intercooler. The intercooler will have a seperate duct chamber that will recieve air directly through the front bumper in vents that will be in the same location as the front license plate was. This seperate chamber will also aid in keeping heatsoak from happening since the heat from the radiator would otherwise rise up into the intercooler in slow situations.

The piping may be routed somewhat differently in order to reduce some pressure loss but it gives a rough idea. The one lonesome pipe at the front is the intake to the SC. Note that the intercooler and radiator will not be perfectly on center since I have to clear the SC on the driver side if you remember where I have it mounted. This will also allow me to run the intake pipe for the SC right into the driver side part of the bumper mouth for fresh air.

Also the wings on the side of the front cross beam are for mounting an oil cooler on one side and a power steering cooler on the other.

Hope I covered everything since it is about 3am and I am beat. lol

I hope you guys enjoy and this is just some eye candy to satisfy you guys until I finally have it done.

Trust me it will fit. I am no fool and I wouldn't spend the money I have been spending to not have it fit. I have measured multiple times and designed everything to fit within the front end. Everything is also being designed around my power goal of around 450whp (at the track) which will be enough since I plan on using this for roadracing at places like Road America eventually.

One of the things I will be doing to maximize the space I have will be using a triple pass radiator (one-off) with a straight blade fan and a larger coolant reservoir to prevent heat soak. My intercooler is not that large but it will support the horsepower I want and I will most likely use water/meth for the track. For the street I will only run about 350whp most likely.

One of the other reasons that I can make everything fit snug is the solid motor mounts will allow me to get everything as close as possible without having to worry about things hitting each other.

This is very cool, and I'm jealous of your fabrication and design skills. Sometimes I wish I went into mechanical engineering when I see things like this.

Keep us posted.

Thumbs up

great minds think a like! Im in the process of having a v mount constructed in my Z as well.... I like the way you went about it!... assuming this will be a patent pendng job, i want you to know that im not copying your design...lol

im following something similar to what jun did to their g35. either way... im all for it.... keep it up man!!!

Good luck to you on your project! I have had the joy of having other engineers help me out with things that I can't do the best, such as weld aluminum, and many of them have allowed me to use tools, mills, lathes, cnc's, CAD/CAM softwares and other things that I don't have yet. This has really made this project cheap for me.

In regards to it being Patent Pending I will not be doing that. I have no plans to sell this kit or make another one.

i think this is a cool idea, but for your horsepower goals of 350 (street) AND 450 TRACK using a centrifugal supercharger, you would be better suited to just eliminate the intercooler from the picture. you should easily be able to reach 350 to the wheels on pump with no intercooler; those blowers run much cooler than turbos or roots-type blowers.

then, at the track, run a race gas setup and a pulley change. with tuning, you reach 450 rwhp with the intercooler, too. that way you wouldn't have to go through all this work to make a v-mount for your car. plus, you be able to keep the factory crash bar up front!!!

Nice design, I can't wait to see the finished product

It doesn't matter if it runs cooler.... If you compress air it will automatically get hotter.

are you suggesting that all forms of forced induction have the same adiabatic effiency? the vortech engineers even said, candidly at the PRI show, that the only reason they used a front mount air-to-air intercooler on this kit was to help make it more appealing to the sport compact market....as we all know that the "look" is very important in selling sport compact products.

I could easily run it on low boost without a intercooler using water/methonal injection and good pump gas. However, since my supercharger location requires a narrower radiator and I would have to make a new front end anyways I might as well just make a v-mount.

I don't see it as a hassle but rather an opportunity to learn an make something unique.

i still think it is a cool idea! I was merely making a suggestion if you didn't want to go through with all the fab work.
