Hey guys, i searched and came up with nothing.
I also read the sticky, i didn't get a clear answer with everyone posting up different weights? Why?

I run Amsoil 5w30 in my car now. When i go to the APS TT kit, what oil weight should i run? The car will be driven in temps below 32F (sometimes in winter) and mostly on nice days 40F+, at the drag strip, and maybe road course ( twice a year ) if i grow some *****. So what weight do you guys use and why?

Also, im getting the APS kit wich comes with a bigger oil pan, which holds up to 6.25 total quarts now, do you guys full all 6.25 quarts or just 6 qts?

that was the recommendation from my tuner/installer... ran it last winter.. no problems.. granted i didn't drive the car when it snowed.. but couple of times it was below freezing.. the car was fine

 

If you live in a climate that has drastic seasons, I'd run a heavier oil in the summer, and a lighter oil in the winter.

10w/40 is probably a good happy medium though.

 

I wouldn't put that much oil in your car if your running the APS TT...With the APS oil pan on the TT you only need 5 1/2 quarts and that includes putting a new filter on. Remember your oil only needs to go to the LOW level on your dipstick with the APS TT...This had been discussed and agreed on many times in the past. Mobil 1 Syn...10w40 for me and no problems

 

My installer reccommended it when putting my motor in. From what he has told me and what he has seen, 20w-50 is sometimes the difference between saving a bearing and spinning one.

Stay as far away from that oil as you can. I spun a bearing after using that oil for only 2k miles. I talked to some people that know about oil and many say RP is junk and that the 5w30 thins out very quickly. My car is a 2005 greddy Z that was done right and was tuned by Sharif.

 

what oil do you use now? i been using it N/A...thought of using it TT also...

 

Right now I am using normal castrol 10w-40 to break in my new engine that I had to build since I spun a bearing. After a couple more thousand miles I will either use M1 0w-40, Rotella T 5w-40, or Amsoil 10w-40. Leaning towards the Rotella T cause I have had such good luck with the non-sythetic version in my powerstroke truck.

Yes, with the APS the new full level is the low level mark, make sure you check the oil when the car is cold or has been sitting for at least 20 minutes since shutdown.
