Well at least we know there is something wrong with the blower . Vortech will cover it , if it is a newer blower as you said . Its just a pain sending it to them . Thier turn around time sucks . You can drive the car with out it on though . Disconnect the IC pipe before the MAF and put some type of air filter on it . You maybe able to figure out if there is another problem in the mean time .

So is the a/f ok? Should I be running rich without my blower or leaner?

the SS box probably needs to see positive boost in order to change the A/F. I wouldn't go WOT or anything, but in theory I think it'd drive kinda like stock with the exception of timing being pulled so it won't feel as strong anyway

How's the oil level in the engine? Has it dropped below normal?

If you try going WOT it probably will go rich . If you still have the stock fuel system it may run perfectly fine . I have my blower off right now and I drive the car quite a bit . It just goes rich if I try to give it to much gas .

There has to be a reason for the black soot though . Hope you can figure that one out .

The SS box only changes fuel and timing under boost...no boost ...no changes . Thats why I said if you still have the stock fuel system it may run perfect . Except ...maybe...your problem with the black soot .

I have the CJ return fuel system with 550 injectors and UTEC. So I don't think I still have the SS box

wait, you're not sure if you're running the SS box or not to tune the car with? Chances are you're running the SS box unless you specifically went with something better. The CJ fuel system will still work with the SS box

oh, yeah it would. Sorry just saw it in your signature now
Even the UTEC or any piggyback or even standalone would still need to see positive boost though before it looks at the FI fuel tables.
But yeah, I dunno. Sounds like there's something up with the blower.

Sorry didnt even think to look at your sig for mods . When you take the blower off to send it in . Just do the IC pipe before the MAF thing and run the car . LIke I said , if you go WOT or heavy throttle it wil go rich because of the bigger injectors . Just keep your foot out of it .

[QUOTE=Barzten1]Put the cog belt back on and the whine is still there. Wine is pretty loud. A little black soot still coming from exhaust[/QUOTE

Oil seal in blower is compromised no lubrication and oil getting into intake..

FWIW, I had the same problem with the cog belt and had Vortech fix it. Unfortunately, when we took the blower off and put a filter on the intake pipe, my fuel trim got pegged and I was blowing consensed chunks of fuel out my tail pipes and smoking like a **** after about a week. When we took out my plugs for my rebuild (choice, nothing blew) they were drenched.

Maybe check to see if you have any loose/popped off Intercooler Piping? What is the idle like?

See if the BOV is stuck or broken.

Could a bad bov or vacuum cause this?

I checked out the bov valve and it seems fine. Took the car around the block to see if it would boost and it made boost. Its just got that horrendous sound. It sounds like the alternator whine from a 90 mustang. Im really thinking its not getting oil somehow. Wish I could disect the blower myself. Im not looking forward to the 3 week downtime.

I wouldnt think a BOV not working wouldnt cause your problems .
There is a way to fined out if the oiler is squirting . Pull the wheel off and the front inner fender well off . You can reach the oil squirter from there . Take off you cog belt and the oil squirter line running to the blower . Have some one start the car while you're holding the oil squirter line in a jar or pale . As soon as the car starts oil should squirt out with in a few seconds .

I was wondering if there was a way to do that. Dr Todd is going to help me in the morning. Thanks again Booger. Do you still have that blower for sale. Besides the blower what would be required for the swap?
