Default odd question, spark near power steering pump

I was working on the car yesterday trying to get ready to do a boost leak test. Well while pulling off the filter on the passenger side intake pipe to the turbo something sparked right around where the coupler is right next to the power steering pump. It did it a couple times and I have the battery unhooked now. I don't see any wires around there at all besides the plug that connects to the bottom of the power steering pump. Any ideas what it could be? Also any tips on the best way to boost leak check a greddy tt.

Most likely heat from the turbo melted through the jacket on a wiring harness, and you moving in there around caused it to ground out and spark. Not good. There are definitely a few wires running around that area, and if not heat treated, are probably toast.

Don't reconnect the batt until you check it out!!!

that is right where the starter wire runs down (big power wire, only thing that would be always hot in that area) prolly burned the insulation off of it. take a multi tester and set it to ohms, then hook one end to the positive on the battery, and the other to the motor, then move stuff around till you see 0.00 resistance and you found your short.
most common boost leak area is on the passenger side compressor outlet, the silicone connector that is super close to the exhaust manifold. i have mine wrapped in header wrap and still baked through it.
good luck

ok it turns out the pipe coming off the passenger turbo melted/rubbed through the rubber boot that sits over the main battery connection on the alternator, Guess I need to find a way to protect it.
