Default Max HP Out Of A Walbro 255?

How much power can I get out of the single in tank walbro 255? for 525whp will I need any fuel system modifications other than the return fuel system and the 255 pump?

Research the effects of voltage at pump terminals [wire size vs current draw] and pressures above 43.4 psi and how in DECREASES total flow and pump life.

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/f...pflowrates.htm

For reliable long term operation be sure the pump or parallel pumps are only operating at 50% of peak capacity.

if you go with HUGE injectors, then you can run at a lower Fuel pressure which helps with the pump. Fuel pumps can eliver more fuel at lower pressures than at higher ones......the opposite is true of injectors.....injectors flow more at higher pressures..........

that's why I say use HUGE injectors (like 1000cc units) if you are going to try and maximize a singel walbro 255

^ good point, I am using 750cc's and brought the idle pressure down to 38-40 with vacuum attached and no issues so far at 554 on a Mustang dyno.

On 1000cc's, I was at 550hp/560tq to the wheels, with plenty of fuel left. Only thing holding me back was octane.

That's good to know. That means there's other cool stuff I buy now and do the return later when I push REAL numbers

Nobody's saying not to get a return fuel system.

I know. But its also not imperetive that I get one now ahead of some other mods I'd like to get under the hood. At my conservative boost settings I don't need that return yet.

A normal oem fuel pump last at least thru 70k/6 year warranty [Infiniti] most 120k depending on the cleanliness of the fuel you buy.

Water in ethanolized fuel can decrease functional life significantly.

Increasing operating psi above 43.4 increases current draw and decreases operational life.

Not sure if members consider 1 year a satisfactory life vs 5 years?

Has anyone tried using a fuel pump booster to increase max hp? If this worked well, it would be an inexpensive solution to increase fueling. I don't know much about them so tuners chime in with your experience please.

That is how the Jim Wolf TT kit handles the fuel, it has its limitations trying to go for higher HP since it is not tunable.

525whp is well within the safe limits of a return fuel system, walbro pump, and 650cc injectors. Go for it!
