Talking SS box timming setting

I will try here !

I would like to know if I have to play with timming, remove some degres, or if the timming that came with the original kit, out of the box, is safe with the 3.33 pulley ?

thanks again !

I will install the 3.125 pulley on my Vortech and I would like to know if I have to play with timming, remove some degres, or if the timming that came with the original kit, out of the box, is safe with the 3.125 pulley ?

If it has the stock Vortech tune in the ss box...I would say NO ! They pull plenty of timing out of it . You WILL need to tune the fuel though

I have actually talked to Sam @ GTM quite a bit about this. You definitely should do a tune if you are going to go with the 3.12 to be on the safe side. I was going to go with this setup until an issue arised with the SS box. So basically now I am going to just scrap that idea and just go with the 2.87 pulley, Walbro in tank fuel pump, 550cc injectors and the HKS FCon iS for fuel management. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers Sam is going to be able to get with this setup.

The F-con is a great stand alone Im sure . But a total over kill for your needs . The Utec and a good tune by Sam will save you a ton of money and yield you just as much power .

edit
Oh Im sorry...I didnt see F-con iS . Thought you meant the stand alone

haha!! Yeah, the FCon stand alone is definitely overkill for my current setup. The great thing about the iS is that it is compatible with the stand alone if I should decide to go with that in the future.

Like I said , you will be ok . Your only going to gain 1.5 to 2 psi and there is plenty of timing being pulled where that extra psi will be

Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn 2.87 pulley? That should push you well over the 400rwp mark on a dynojet!

I thought you were going to be satisfied with low 400's/high 300's on the 3.12!

Hex, what are your current NA mods? If you have headers, HFC, exhaust, spacer, and any additional breathing mods, then you're going to be making alot of power from that setup.

At that point, I think I would personally go with the CJM Stage 1 return fuel for extra safety.

I bet its gonna be a blast!

Don't be foolish and try to tune yourself without a dyno. Make an appointment with your tuner to have the car tuned right after you install the pulley.

haha!! Well, I WAS gonna go with the 3.12 and then a few things happened and I ended up deciding to just do the 2.87. Sam's goal is a safe 400whp. That's more than enough for me and more than I could have hoped for. Initially I was just hoping to hit about 375whp. So needless to say, I'm sure I will be more than satisfied.
