Congrats! Nice numbers, do you guys have any intention to get it dynoed on a dynojet? Not trying to knock anything down, I have just heard that Mustang Dynos read higher than other.

Nice accomplishment none the less!

Amazing work and props to another shop that's actually willing to break barriers and seek limits..

There was a member here "bigbri" that drove his car around with a supposed 550whp on a stock block for a good 6 months or so until he blew it on a mis shift. So far it seems that a lot of stock motors let go when the driver drops it into the wrong gear and it briefly revs over redline.

Bigbri had his dynod at what was Scott's Performance so I don't think it was quite 550, but he also had meth injection running on that boost level. I think he was running the Unichip that came with the APS TT as well....

Anyway, it could last for a while depending on how you drive it. If I personally was driving that car it would probably be blown the first day I had it.

Actually it varies. Without correction, mustang dynos read much LOWER than the average dynojet. The only thing is that these dynos can be adjusted with certain "correction" factors. Many shops with them add "dynojet" correction to give customers higher numbers and many times they end up actually being higher with correction.

Wow !! That would be getting real close to 600whp on a DynoJet

Great job !

You can't really make that assumption based on the brand of dyno alone.

But yeah, the numbers are impressive. You guys should take it to the 1/4mi and see what it TRAPS.

Using the same correction used for this dyno, what does a stock Z put down on it?

Actually the Mustang dyno can be thrown off by changing the vehicle weight at least on the models I've dyno'd on. I'm not saying SP did that but since everyone here is happier with Dynojet numbers I'll jump on the wagon.. I just don't like the standard dyno chart print out the Mustang prints out. (Like the one attached). The Mustang does have some dyno charts that show the power band on a more granular level. I'd like to see that..

That's high but not unreasonably so. Most stock 03-05 Z's I've seen on dynojets put down 225-235whp.

Hmm, For a 287 motor that would be a bit high. Not sure exactly what motor you have but perhaps thats correct. My 287 VQ35DE made 232 WHP bone stock on a Dynojet.

Little high for a Mustang dyno, as most Z's do 210-220whp on those with no additional corrections. I wasnt trying to take anything away from you btw, your numbers are good even if they were 500whp..thanks for posting

that's just about what I dyno'd stock on a dynojet too... either way, they're great numbers for a stock block - I also agree that pushing that car on the street wouldn't last very long...

Well actually I bought the car used and it had an air intake and aftermarket exhaust.... But I would be surprised if they added anything at all except for an annoying exhaust sound while driving at speed!

Most of the Camaro / Mustang guys in the area complain that our dyno reads too low!! Cant win!

I can say that ours is calibrated to emulate dyno jet numbers. A supra that did 1108 on a dynojet did 1098 on ours.... And a Camaro that did 324 on AMS's dynojet did 327 on ours so who knows!

But its just a number. I honestly dont think that a Mustang dyno will ever read identically to a dynojet or any other dyno. It is just a tool that I use for tuning!!

I agree.

Then 241wp with an intake and exhaust isn't high at all. Sounds about right to me.

We all know that dyno numbers are just ballpark figures. Everyone just gets caught up in them from time to time.

I was going off my local Mustang Dyno vs the DynoJet 50 miles away . The Mustang operator said he and the DynoJet operator always compared and the Dynojet was always 12 to 13 % higher range .

The reason his dyno was inaccurate was because we had a large rain the prior day and water had pooled into the dyno pit (pump wasn't working)which caused it to be off a bit. We recalibrated and redyno'd the car and the numbers came out to be MUCH more accurate

Again, we use the dyno as a tool for tuning, and getting us a good baseline for power numbers to compare at the track. Most of us who know Larry and I, know that we prove ourselves at the track and have for the last 15+yrs. I'll be sure to show you an accurate hp number when I take it . Maybe larry and I will go an evening this week and have some fun.

Chris
