Wow.... I can't believe all of these issues with Vortech blowers lately. I have 40K+ on my kit with no issues at all, I just changed my serp belt for the 1st time when I did the GTM pulley upgrade as well. My COG is still the original one.

Makes me wonder if there is just a bad batch of blowers out there?... Or if there is something different in their manufacturing process? I have had mine on over a year now and other than a clogged air filter (my bad) which was robbing me of PSI and power I have had trouble free boosting and I have been running the 3.12 since day one.

All I do is visual inspections and make sure the serp belt is tight and the COG belt is loose, change oil (Royal Purple) every 3k miles and run 96 oct fuel.

The last issue I have heard of is G35asian and I saw his blower and it rattled as he turned the blower pulley as well as scraped like in the pics here...

Could this happen from having the COG belt to tight?... I can turn my COG belt at least 1/2 to a bit more where you would almost think it is to loose...

You can easily drive it with out the blower on . Just take the oil feed line and put it in the return line and clamo it on . Un hook the IC pipe somewhere between the IC and the MAF pipe and put some cheap free flowing filter on it . If you have bigger injectors ....it may go real rich if you try to jump on it . But the car will be drivable .

That's what I was thinking of doing booger but it just wouldn't be the same. GTM is probably going to do some other work on my car while it is there anyways. So I will just have to manage w/o the G until it is ready to go.

These issues definitely seem to be happening to newer SC's. Is it a coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Makes me wonder though. At this point I just want them (Vortech) to fix it right so I don't have this issue again.

Hmmmm . . . I am in Cali so going turbo is not really an option for me if I want to "appear" street legal. My Vortech has the CARB exemption plaque on it in case I get pulled over and I wanna keep that.

Today, I took my car to go to work... and the stange noise was there at the morning start, but more louder....

I took my car out for the dinner, same thing, BUT this time the noise did not get away... and as I drove, it starded to became lounder... I stopped the car, on the side of the road and I simply remove the cogged belt, behind the Vortech... and the 15 amp fuse for the inline fuel pump...

at the end of my working day, today... I remove the air filter from the Vortech and OH MY GOD !!!!

we can see some contact traces between the turbine impeller and the housing... and it is pretty hard to turn with my hand...

man... two months old kit !

I will post some pics later today.... you will see what I mean...

Damn that sucks

just out of curiosity, if i remove my filter, should I be able to move the sc fins with my fingers? Is it supposed to move freely like a normal fan?

Not unless your cog belt is removed since the pulley on the back of the supercharger is what spins that compressor wheel.

FYI guys, all you can do is just remove the SC belt that drives it and drive the car normally with no boost. I know someone who does this on the ATI kit when the belts break and she doesn't have any issues driving it. It may run rich as hell, but the car is driveable.

Yup, it'll run rich as hell. I decided to just leave my G @ GTM. I'll make due until it's fixed.

True, but when the blower is bad why leave it on? Just uninstall it and send it out to get repaired. I don't know about any you, but I want to have boost again asap!

Your fine as long as you are tuned for 91 and don't beat on your car when it is 110+ outside.

Lol, vortech kits did not have any recurring problems like this until now... That is why I bought it last month . If the blower goes out again I will be changing to a different kit.

my vortech is making a weird *** noise too, new out of the box on a brand new car. I looked and from what I can see the bolt from the blower is hitting against the pipe (chipping away at the pipe coming from plenum) oh well see what Dave has to say
