Which size injectors 550cc or 650cc?
Ok guys i have already decided on going with the deatchweks(sp?) injectors due to the spray pattern (better fuel attomazation than RC) and their price. I cant decide if i should go with 550cc or 650cc. I plan on making 3 maps being: 1)wastegate spring 2) whatever is required for 400whp(DD) 3)whatever is required for 450whp(DD). The setup will be a SFR TT kit running on a stock block(unless the unfortunate happens). Also i plan to run w/o the fuel return on this setup. This being the case i know i need to run larger injectors than would be needed with a fuel return, but the question is how much bigger? I could just say fuukk it and get the 650's but then you start running into issues with trying to smooth out the idle. I had this problem with my Power Enterprise 510's on my maxipad(which were also bigger than were needed) and it was a pain in the *** to get the idle smoothed out.
Thanks for any input

I have the DW 650s in now. Our goals are just about the same except I have the Greddy TT and I'm a 5AT. I run a UTEC and the only issue I have is ocasional hot start tough to start syndrome. It cranks but wants to stumble until you blip the gas then its just fine. If it sits for 2 minutes its very noticable, if it sits for 20 minutes is hardly noticable. I dont have my TT kit installed yet and other than that issue it runs just fine with the 650s. I went with the 650s becasue its not a question of if the motor goes or I decide to build, its a question of when.
I went with 750's only because they were "recomended" to me by some ******* in Houston. For my power level I could have went with the 440's I already had, or 550's max. I would talk to whoever you plan on doing your tuning(hopefully Sharif) and ask him. He will guide you in the right direction for your benefit.

Sure, since when is it complicated, its just time consuming. For me its not hard, for Chris it shouldn't be. Others perhaps don't have the knowledge, time, skill etc. With help from some friends here, asking questions, researching, a few weeks of street tuning and a couple hours on a dyno and I am certain I'll be in the 400whp club in my G. I did it in a stock SC'd VQ30, built turbo'd VQ35. Its not like we are building a car from scratch here! Tuners would have you believe otherwise, they gotta eat!

Ha, i love mardi man! Dude can figure out anything. Unfortunately i lost a little of my testicular fortitude w/ the VQ30 to VQ35 swap (w/ SC, cams custom intercooler) i did on the max. Due to several setts of bad cam adapters it took almost 6 months to finish everything. I have been scared ever since
. As finiky as the Z seems to be i'll let someone tune else tune.
I did alot of DIY on the max because i was still in college and had extra time and little money (which=DIY
). Now i have a big boy job and little time (which = sitting on my *** and letting someone else do it).
Kinda makes me wonder though becuause i really think me and my buddy could knock out the install in a couple of days and have it tuned at the dynojet which is litterally down the street from my house. I know i could do it since i installed all my $hit on my old car and all the parts so far on this one (even the headers only took us 2 hours) Matt i hope i don't start getting that itch again

Don't worry lee, mardi is just one of those guys that likes do everything himself. Dude even assembled his own built motor

I love how certain people on here talk **** to people.. myself included that we are credit card racers.. and we know nothing about our cars. I have been there.. done that.. dont have the time nor the place to do it myself anymore. If i had a nice house with a garage and the time.. i sure would do most of the stuff on my Z.
The turbo install is supposed to be CAKE if you take the front clip off and slide the motor and trans out with a shop crane. It sounds like a bunch of work but I have come to the conclusion that although it might take a little longer and the chance of messing up the other parts in front of the car is their, having direct access to the engine for this install so you can be sure everything is torqued perfecty and donr correctly is worth the effort.
If I didnt have a garage I would not be doing this stuff myself for sure!

**** i don't even think the motor has to be taken out of the car to install the SFR kit. The tubular manifolds it utilizes are supposed to hang alot lower than the greddy's log style manifold. In my eyes (could be wrong
) the hardest part is supposed to be installing the turbos in manifolds, but with this kit it seems like it would be just like installing the headers and then bolting the turbos up to it. (i know i am making it sound more simplistic than it really is
)
I do all my work at a buddies shop which is like a 12 car garage. They do ALOT of honda builds and 240sx SR swaps. They have done a couple of turbonetics 350z's and a few bolt on Z's. Problem is they have never even seen a Utec before which is what i have.
