Default APS oil pan: How much oil to put in?

Hello! I tried searching this question but I get different answers, basically I want to know how much oil to put in my car during an oil change after the APS oil pan is installed. It increases the capacity by 1.25Qts so I would think to put in 6 quarts (since there will still be a little oil left even after draining)? Too much? Can anyone who has done an oil change w/ the APS oil pan please lend me a hand :0)

Thanks a lot!

Default APS oil

Oil level should be to the BOTTOM line of the dipstick.
It's not as much oil as you are mentioning.

I'm pretty sure the last I heard APS suggested filling with 5.5 qts with their oil pan and turbo kits. Some of the APS owners can chime in to verify this.

I was kinda wondering this myself since I have one as well. I have been adding 6qts. at every change since it took 5 to fill her up and this increased capacity by one it only made sense. If im wrong someone please correct me. I am going to be changing my oil next week so it would be great to know. Thanks!

what the hell is the point of the oil pan if you still put the stock amount of oil in?

Maybe APS wants you to put in the same amount of oil with their FI kits because their kits always burn oil and blow smoke out the tailpipes???
seriously though, that'd mean the only reason to buy it is for the baffles, heat fins, aluminum, and the bling
seems like false advertising to me if they say it'll hold 1.25 more quarts of oil if you shouldn't actually put more oil in

with my APS pan and vortech, I try to keep the oil somewhere between the OEM low and full lines, usually leaning more towards full.

Not to hijack, but how often are you guys averaging adding oil with this kit. I just had it installed and was wondering. Also, it's been smoking a lot. Not a complete "white out" but noticeable. I do realize I'm now without cats

5.5 with new filter. I've never bothered to change oil without changing the filter so I can't chime in on that...

With the similar Power Enterprise Pan that I've used they state a +1 quart oil increase is required. After draining my oil I started with 5.5 quarts and waited for the oil to settle. Check the d-stick and add more as needed to make the d-stick oil level 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way from the bottom locator.

Change the oil filter everytime, no matter what. Cheap maintenance/insurance.

Not much else you can do.

I hate the dipstick. Probably the hardest dipstick to read out of all the cars I've owned. The location is weaksauce as well.

Nice. Two years ago the tech at GRD personally told me they put 6qts in every car. This was when my car was smoking with the APS twins and nobody else had come forward yet.

It is not false advertising. The pan does hold the increased volume. the thing is, overall capacity of the system does not increase the same amount. the oil pick up is dropped as well. The baffles, fins, and built in returns are plenty reason enough to buy the pan

The kit does not always burn oil out the tail pipes. There are maybe a handful or so of issues, but definitely not the norm. They are using garrett turbos, just like tons of other cars run. they are no more proned to burn oil than any other garrett turbo based setup is.

6qts is right on a new build. With that comment are you implying it was an oil level issue that led to your problems?

Who is doing your install? if you are asking these types of question I hope it is not you. the directions on APS' site and those that are included with the kit should address the questions you have asked here on the forums. May I suggest you take a break from the web and sit down and read through the parts list, install instructions, diagrams, and notes that APS lists on their site
