I think some of you guys didn't take your midol this morning
. I don't see what is the big deal about asking what they have paid for their setup. IMO if you are spending the money with peace of mind then it shouldn't be a problem telling someone (who is asking the question for a purpose) how much the entire scope of work cost.

I personally wouldn't ask a question like this in an open forum. It's simple to say that some have spent too much, while others have paid very little. It all depends on personal circumstances, sponsors (if any), shops involved, equipment chosen, blah blah blah...
If you're interested in going FI, do your homework. Check out vendor sites, talk to numerous shops that specialize on our cars, and research parts costs based on average pricing found on the net. If you get a quote that seems outragous, it probably is. BUT keep in mind one thing - this game isn't cheap. It's probably going to cost more than you think and will require more money down the road that you're not thinking about now. If you can't stomach that concept, then stay far away from this forum and don't look back...

Sorry i just don't see the big deal. If someone gets away w/ their setup being cheaper than mine then shame on me for not being a smart shopper. O'well i guess this is all just varies from person to person

Well I've only got about $5000 into mine right now ![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If you're smart and wait for good deals on slightly used or NIB items to pop up in the classifieds, you can have a decent stock block setup for well under $6k for everything you need including gauges, exhaust, misc extras...
Oh, that's assuming you do the install and tune yourself![Big Grin](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
So far I have:
-TN single turbo kit (used)
-UTEC w/ map sensor and switch (used)
-Defi Blue Racer gauges (1 new, one new in box from the classifieds)
-AEM Wideband gauge (new in box from the classifieds)
-AAM oil pan spacer and oil return line (new)
-AAM FP gauge adaptor (new)
-Walbro fuel pump (new)

+1 good information to know.

Hell even with hookups. My greddy Kit was 4500 no shipping but I purchased alot at once. 10K on first purchase, 9K for the engine then nickle and dime (so to speak) ther rest. It adds up quick, $500 here, $700 there. It realy helps to have good deals here and there.
Some people just get butt hurt when they find they were raked over the coals with a crappy deal. The greddy kit easily sells for 7 to 8K here, because since its an every one adds shipping cost on top of the inflated price.

yea this is a really good question for people considering FI. sure i CAN afford the turbo set up, but the question is how many K in hidden costs will i incur. i agree with the if you have to ask you cant afford it to a point, but we are also not driving porsches. its nice to have a ballpark so you can budget accordingly should you decide to do this... in real estate we have disclosure rules, i think they should make a set of rules like this for mechanics lol.

if someone really wants to know.. find 5 vendors and ask them how much it will cost YOU and what YOU want.

i'm not FI, but even I know that to get a ballpark figure, do your HW. look at vendors, research the kit. Call up the shop you want to do the install...better yet, pay that shop a visit.
Additionally, there could be some people here who worked out deals with a particular shop/vendor/etc, and out of respect to that shop/vendor/etc, won't post their price on a public forum.

OP, just curious. How much did you pay for your house? How many rooms? What's your neighborhood like? I ask because I'm looking into purchasing a house myself and want to have an idea of how much your set-up costs...

man you guys are ruthless.... perhaps it maybe a bit personal for some of you guys but if the OP wanted to get into the FI world he was just trying to gather info of the ball park area of the cost of getting turbo'ed. I think if he restated his thread the turn out would be a bit different.
