Everyone with the TIMROD setup on the Vortech
I was messing around with the pulleys today and I figured this would be a better way to route the belts. The top belt comes down at a sharper angle which would create more belt wrap on the jackshaft pulley. I drove around with the new belt routing and it seems to work fine. It clears the timing chain cover just barely
Below are the pics of the stock setup, the original timrod setup, and the setup I am using now
Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated

that should work fine. It does have slightly more belt wrap, but I can't imagine it being a lot more. The distance has increased though at the top, the added tension on that top middle pulley might make up for that
You might have possibly faster belt wear with such a sharp angle between those two middle/top pulleys.
but yeah, I say if it works, then cool
maybe I'll try that next time I change my belt

here:
it has less wrap around the crank and power steering pulleys though
for the normal/TIMROD belt setup, if there was a way to get another pulley to the left of the jackshaft pushing the top belt down, that'd be ideal, but there's not much room to get a pulley in there

PLEASE SEE DIAGRAMS AT THE TOP OF THIS THREAD:
So if I am understanding this correctly, do you need to change out the factory idler pulley from a ribbed to a flat surface meaning you need to change out the pulley? How would you be able to find one of these? Does anyone know how much shorter or longer of a belt is needed to go from the stock Vortech setup to the Timrod setup? Thanks in advance.

I have the GTM pulley upgrade. I'm more concerned with the power steering pulley squealing. The Timrod setup has a better contact area on this pulley and my car squeals for about 5 min until everything warms up even though my belt is super tight. This problem is not as bad when its warm out but really annoying when its below 60 degrees. I just want my car to start and not sound like a pos. I don't think I am having any belt slip issues with my supercharger at all.

your belt is probably too tight. its killing the bearings on your accessories causing them to squeal.
my 78" serp belt isnt crazy tight, i dont slip and have been up to 17psi on just the normal revised layout.

Hey Tim, thanks for the info, so it sounds like the stock pulley has to be machined for your setup to work. I guess the first step would be to find a stock idler pulley first and somehow have the grooves taken out of it. Your setup applies much more contact area to the power steering pulley but at this point I might try the Gates belt and see if my problem is fixed with that. Too bad Vortech doesn't use your setup with their stock kit.

I agree my belt may be too tight but since the problem goes away after my car warms up or during warm temps that it is belt related. I don't think I am having any slip issues with my supercharger pulley just the power steering pulley.
