It was a car meet so there were about 20 cars there but everyone was neatly parked and mature.
Apparently, San Diego has a big street racing problem so the cops are out there exploiting every possible way to get cars ticketed or impounded. They actually impounded 3-4 Hondas for having parts that didn't match the rest of the car so some might have been stolen.
Basically, I did have a modified exhaust and I think the cops were smart enough to know what an intercooler is.
They used the law that if a car is outside yoru garage or personal home / abode property, then it is in a public domain which is then subject to inspection. Because CARB-related issues are ultimately related to public health and safety, they can get into cars if they feel that there is just cause.
At first, I though there needed to be search warrants and crap but after further investigation with lawyers and police officers I know, I found they are in the right to do so even though it is incredibly unethical in my opinion.
I just had my windshield replaced on my Z because I don't want there to be ANY reason for a cop to pull me over and use it as an excuse to pop opne my hood.
