Since you're new to FI, I'd just go with a GTM 4.2L stroker engine, APS Extreme TT kit, full blown FCON setup with Navigator and all sensors, and a few gauges. 800whp. That should at least get the FI ball rolling for you....
A supercharger and TT setup both offer equal levels of safety, as long as the additional parts, tuning, and modest boost are maintained.
The TT's offer much more trq, and will be significantly faster than a Vortech SC at the same power level. The main benifit to the SC setups, is their lower price, and less costly installation process.
I also plan on spending a little bit more, and get a good exhaust, and some gauges.

My advice is to check the member market place. You can usually find a used kit for fairly cheap. As for which supercharger system to go for, the stillen one IS garbage. There have been tons of various problems with the vortech kit, and from an engineering stand point the ATI procharger is vastly superior, but the procharger kit lacks a decent engine management system to retard the timing, so it's safest to run a Greddy E-manage ultimate or a TurboXS UTECH and ditch the stock FMC that comes with the kit. However, I would argue most would swap out the Vortech FMC as well for something much better (stated above). Definitely consult your turning shops, do some searching on the forums, and watch some streetfire and youtube videos of the various kits. Best of luck bro.

1. Not everybody would be interested in buying a used kit, so why bring it up?
2. What are the TONS of problems with the kit? Every kit at some time has had issues, but to say a kit is junk due to problems is dumb, I cant even say that about the Stillen which I hate.
3. Tell us all why from an engineering standpoint the ATI is vastly superior to the UTEC?
4. ITS UTEC, not UTECH, so please learn to spell mods you are going to suggest...
