650's is a return a must?

just doing highway cruising with no WOT, I seem to get around 20-23mpg
keep in mind I have a 3.9 final drive

it only does it when it's really hot. Something about the Fcon reading high intake or EGT temps and tries to raise rpms higher to try to cool things off some.
I told Sam I wanted my idle around 1200 or so to kill off the vortech rattle noise and it also make it easier to drive with the ATS dual clutch giving you more headroom to not stall and so that's what we did.
When I was at GTM, we were running out of time because I had to get back home. Sam did everything he could to try to get the car to really heat up so he could set up the parameters for those conditions, but it was really cold that day so it was hard to simulate what it would be like when the car is heat soaked in 110 degree weather when it was less than 60 degrees outside that day
It's a quick fix to get it to not do it, but it's not a huge deal. I know I can mail Sam the Fcon so he can fix the issue, but I'd just rather drive there though I'd rather wait until I have a bigger reason to drive 350 miles to GTM. it only starts doing it when the car has sat outside in the heat all day and I end up in rush hour or making several stops where I turn the car off a bunch and temps start rising.
If I'm able to drive at normal speeds, the temps obviously drop and it'll idle where it's supposed to

And to add.....that I have the 3.3 rear back in...you have the 3.9 and get much better MPG...go figure ???????

I'm just reporting how much gas I put in my car. I can get more specific about how far I drive to and from work etc, but I'm not making anything up. I really do put in 13.x gallons in my Z when I do around 190-200 miles on my normal driving. It varies a little, but not too far from that. If I drive my Z full time throughout the week, the gas lasts about a week if I fill up when I get down to 1/4 tank. I also run half race gas if that can possibly have any effect on mileage
besides we have pretty different cars
you have an automatic and it's a G35
I've taken a crapload of things out of my car to lighten it up and it's a manual Z
If I had to guess, your car is probably about 250 lbs heavier than mine wouldn't you say?
I also have the HKS ignition amp which other people have said improved their mileage by 2-5%
I honestly don't think 1200 rpm idle burns anything more than maybe 2% gas. I really didn't notice any difference is gas mileage even though it obviously must burn more gas than a lower idle

Well we get just about the exact same MPG in town , but yours goes up 5 to 8 MPG on the highway
Our cars have a very good ignition and it would be hard to believe a increase of 2 to 5 % with the HKS Amp . I would beleive that HKS claims 2 to 5% . But we know how that works

yeah I didn't do any sort of mpg benchmark before and after the HKS unit, but I do run half race gas which is probably harder to fully ignite when you're just cruising at low rpms
I'd guess the HKS might have helped me more than someone who ran 91 all the time which would be easier to ignite
I was basing my highway mpg from when I drove to GTM and back just cruising and it was something around 20-23mpg. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I was monitoring the miles traveled and how many gallons I put in the car when I stopped for gas on the way there. I also had my wife in the car and a bunch of car parts and luggage in the back.
only other thing I can think of as being a constant is nebraska at a higher elevation than AZ and CA

oh ok, didn't know that's where you are. The rest of nebraska is around 2600 ft
