Greddy wastegate spring swap help needed.
Has anyone swapped out the wastegate springs on the Greddy kit without pulling the whole watsegate? Anyone actually unscrewed the allen bolts and pull the top off? My kit is over 3 years old and I need to put different springs in but do not want to try and pull the whole wastegate because of the fear of the hex heads snapping off. I know it has happened to other people and do not want to have to pull the motor because of a broken bolt. Can this be done? It has been a while since I have been underneath the car to know if I could get to all of the allen bolts.. Thanks, Rich
well that is how you get to the spring is by removing those allen head screws, it can be done but it is a pain to put them back on, maybe not with stock 5psi springs, but with higher psi springs you have to be able to push the top all the way back on against the pressure of the spring in order to tighten the screws
I was told to remove the whole wastegate and then take the spring out. I was also thinking of using 2 longer screws per wastgate to get them seated and then use the original screws to complete it.
looking straight at it...from about 2Oclock to 9Oclock is easy. It's the 3 or so that are above that you have to get between the frame bay and the top of the wastegate to get to.
It can be done. Would recommend looking for swivel allen sockets and look at/measure the gap you'll need before you buy any tools. Getting it out obviously being the easier part. Going back in is where you'll need to be really carefull about snapping the bolts. With the original greddy config, the wastegate is pretty secure, but be careful regardless.
I would probably take the time in unbolting it and taking down due to how hard it would be to keep that spring compressed with minimal room to work with.

I have no patience to do that again. I seriously could of caused harme to someone if they came around me while I was in the middle of doing it the last time. I would almost rather have the big loss in power than put myself through that again.
