Default Hks F-con Vpro Question

This is for all the V-pro tuners. Does this unit do anything to retard timing without the knock amp? Will it hear the stock knock sensor? I'm asking about this since I see vendors selling this for FI. I need to know before taking this next step and getting one. I want a ems that has a good and smooth transition between open and closed loop with the best protection. Any help would be appreciated.

The VPro does not listen for knock and pull it with out the use of a knock amp. Most EMS don't have this feature and the ones that do it doesn't work very well since knock isn't always easy to identify with hardware unless it is specifically calibrated for your engine.

George thanks for the answer. Next question. How safely can the car be tuned without having the knock installed? Right now I'm still with my stock block and aps tt. I'm looking for something that is better than a utec, when it comes to daily driving. Most of the time your not in boost.

Even if you don't purchase the Knock Amp, most vpro tuners will still use one while tuning at least.

I understand that. I'm trying to decide on the vpro or the IS. I'm getting tired of my utec and the empty promises from turbo xs as far as the updates are concerned. At this point I just don't see them doing anything with it.

VPro is the best way to go. Once you have a VPro properly installed and tuned on your car you won't ever need to touch it or worry about it again unless you change something on your car that would affect the tune.

I do trust a properly set up VPro with out knock amp (although recommened) over a Utec or anything else on the market any day.

V-Pro is obviously the way to go in my opinion.
I think the main question is how much do you want to spend...
If your willing to spend the money, V-Pro will do everything you want and at that point...If nothing else, you can add the knock amp later...

If the car is tuned properly there should not be any reason for it to knock except if the driver does something stupid like put 89 octane in the car and beat it up.

a knock amp setup with target AF ratio in vacuum is a great selling point in my eyes.

remember to trust your local my350z sponsors while on the forums...
