Default AAM P/S or Motordyne P/S

Hey guys, I have ST turbonetics... what do you guys recommend and why.

AAM Plenum Spacer or Motordyne P/S?

Factorty Strut Bar / Engine Cover able to leave remained?

Also.. what size. 5/16, 1/2 etc etc...?

Thanks

Honestly the difference between each spacer is probably minimal. It comes down to really price, looks, and personal preference.

Since I have only used the Motordyne Spacer, I can recommend the Iso Thermal 5/16th spacer. It will allow you to use your Factory Strut bar, as it comes with all spacers needed, and the engine cover as well.

I think it is a very simple and affordable model of the plenum spacer.

With a boosted setup I would recommend a full plenum replacement. I just don't like idea of an additional gasket and potential leak point that the spacers add. This is by no means saying they won't work just fine, but a crawford or aps are a better choice IMHO

Hi Zivman,

I just wanted to mantion that the Motordyne spacers now come with the gaskets permanently bonded to both the upper and lower suraces of the spacer. So the spacer itself essentially becomes one thick gasket with no more sealing surfaces than the stock or aftermarket plenums.

In fact, this new gasket material is much thicker and much more compliant than the thin stock metal gaskets typically used on the plenums. Sealing and reliability with the spacer is now exceptional NA or FI.

I see what Ziv is saying but on a higher HP car 550+. For a TN or stock block boosted car I think the MD kit would work great. IMO ofcourse

Still keeps the factory strut and cover and I believe the 5/16ths was the best in the plenum shootout correct? Well for the money...

They are being used on the GTM stroked Z's with 850+ HP, APS extreme TT's at well over 20 PSI. ...With the stock strut bar.

+1 on Tony's spacers... we use the MD 5/16" isothermal spacers for all of our TN cars and JWT TT cars. =)

I LOVE my 1/2" spacer, I like it more than my old Crawford, I cant wait to redyno and see how it affected the curve, it sure feels much stronger from 6000-7300rpm. No issues with leaks at 13-15psi, very nice kit.

Either will do just fine, but I like the Motordyne products personally. If you do go with MD, get the 1/2" spacer and powder coat the plenum... Just my $.02

So it should hold for high rev NA build. I think I might be the last Z owner not to have a MD spacer
