are your FI components insured?
i workas an auto damage adjuster and if it isnt stated in your policy that you have additional coverage for sterios or suspension etc they will either give you the money for oem replacement or if there is aftermarket replicas that are cheaper they are allowed to use those, it is stated in your policy. say you are hit and your bumper is messed up and there is a company that offers that same bumper for 200 less than oem we will use the least expensinve of the 2. if you have aftermarket suspension and that is damaged but it isnt declared on your policy you can use the money of the oem priced suspension towards buying your aftermarket parts that were damaged. you should aslo be aware that if used parts are available from wreck yards those are also able to be used and often are as they are usually cheaper than anything new.
I wont go into details since it doesnt apply to u guys, but all my modifications are listed on my policy and agreed value for the car has been increased by a percentage.
My premium went up about $60 a month.

I wish I had jumped on the USAA bandwagon while i was in them military. Right now I'm with Amica Mutual and they said they'd cover anything minus body/paint work with receipts. I have a big stack of them too. Unfortunately I don't have receipts for everything like things I've bought from people here but I consider that acceptable loss.
I spoke to a Statefarm agent yesterday that passed this info from their claimd dept. onto me: "You can keep your receipts and claims might pay for modifications in the event of a loss, but more than likely they will only cover total purchase price of vehicle." It wouldn't surprise me to know that a military insurance company would pay for extras, but a private civilian company would most likely deny any additional claims for modifications. I have been talking with GMAN and he is looking into this as well with his Statefarm agent. To those that have posted(excluding military)that your insurance will cover your mods as long as you have receipts, I think you are going to find that they really aren't covered. I would double check with your agents and get that s%^t in writing. Just for the record I have insurance through Safeco and they wouldn't cover my mods, but I could purchase additional coverage. My yearly premium is about $1500. To carry an additional $25,000 (which is half of what I have invested) my premium would jump to a little over $5,000. With that being said I find it hard to believe that any other insurance company would openly cover and extra $50,000 without the client paying for it. That logic would assume that a $12,000 Kia's insurance premium would be the same as a $100,000 Porsche. I may be wrong, but thinking a insurance company is going to cover mods without additional payment seems to good to be true.

Just some more info all insurance companies take over ownership of a vehicle that they are paying a loss on. Once you agree to the loss you no longer own that car, so you can't go pulling working parts of it.
Liberty Mutual insures me for anything I claim I have. When I wrecked a couple months back, they bought me a new Greddy Intercooler, piping, and 07 headlights.
I've added quite a bit of additional value and it's about $200.00 more a year than what it was going to be.
My motor, wheels, and TT kit are also insured, along with my exhaust, gauges, AND boost controller. Basically anything a couple hundred dollars over my deductable, which is $500.00, is insured.. They don't cover mechanical falure or anything, but if I were ever to total my car or it is stolen...EVERYTHING will be covered. *knock on wood*
