Here's a very short vid (very short) of my open dump. I hope it's justifiable for you. I didn't know the guy was filming and other factors were at play. So I didn't have much time to react. I hope this helps some. Vids don't always to it justice. But this ones pretty good. Scroll down to post 89, at the bottum of all the pics you'll see a vid. Just click on it.

The newer pipe, know as the wastegate relocation is basically the same pipe with an added outlet that juts off that pipe to move the wasetgate further out. Then they also add another pipe, in the shape of a "U" that comes from the bottom the wastegate and attaches to the pipe you posted. That U pipe would be the one you cut and the pic you posted should be blocked off. This is how it's setup on my car. I hope this makes some since.

Now I could be a little wrong on the older style. And from what I can tell, you would have to turn the wastegate 180 degree's and attach a small downpipe to vent the hot gases away from other parts.

I'll be glad to discuss this with you further, to have a beter understanding. PM me your number and I'll call ya. I have free long distance.

*Note the car I posted was Ipchecks car, I actually got the idea from him first. But I have the new piping and its still the same setup. Forgot to add you have to buy a block off plate (you can get them from TN) to block off the hole left where the wastegate is suppose to recirculate.

I try and see if I can find more pictures of my setup.

So whats the difference on routing a open dump with the new piping? I don't have an over boost issue in Hawaii so I have the old style.

Redline....

If you want to hear a set of open gates man, contact Seth and go up to Sonics when they are tuning my car up. I've got it on my TT and you can definately hear an apreciable noise diffrence. In Seths words, "It's ******* loud!" If you want I can give you a ride in it when I get back so you can hear it from the cockpit.

You definately hear a diffrence. Piping should be piping as long as the angle is right. They are fairly simple design. Just a flange that matches your turbo and a long enough pipe to route it out.

That's right. The setup is going to be the same. I was just liberating on the difference of the old and new. For the actual location of the wastegate would be different from the pic you had. Plus with the old style kit you have to rotate the wastgate facing down. The new style, like mine you didn't have to turn the wastegate. Just getting down to specifics. I talked to the OP last night. Great guy by the way.

Got my wastegate / open dump done today @ japtrix in west palm, fl while I was there I also got my car retuned, since I have added the following mods since my last tune. new hks ti carbon exhaust (single), fixed my wastegate/bov vacuum lines which were reversed and got my open dump. overall I was impressed with the dyno results. * note these are results from a mustang dyno and are 8-12% lower than dynojet #s o and only 7.2 lbs of boost. ENJOY!!! btw i love the open dump =)

That is nice for 7.2 psi. This comming weekend at the meet my buddy has a built turbo IS with an open dump, now I have yet to hear a Open dump on a Z, but his car is crazy loud. I think a lot of Z guys are going to like his car. Scares me everytime I "try" to hang with it.

Chris
I am stock btw... so there is no keeping up

edit: Juice what did you put down before the exhaust?
