Why am I getting a CEL every 1000 miles? I have a vortech s.c. and was recently tuned.

Please advice. I have been clearing it by disconnecting the battery and then connecting it, after 1k miles , CEL comes back.

From the 04 Factory Manual

P1274 1274 A/F SENSOR1 (B1)
P1283 1283 A/F SENSOR1 (B2)

You probably already know;
B1 = Bank 1 Passengers Side
B2 = Bank 2 Drivers Side

 

Do you have test pipes? What year is your Z?

 

More than likely do to test pipes or (some) HFC's

 

No test pipes. My mods: Vortech s/c, 5/16 spacer, nismo exhaust. Thats it. This cel came on after installing the s/c. This is on an 05 Z. I keep getting it every 1000 miles, at first I thought it was the brand of gas Unocal76, so I went to another station, then 1k afterwards cel. It has happened to me 3 times already. I will have to rethink about keeping the s.c. I notice the car feels sluggish whenever the 1k/cel comes on. After 2 tunes, the car feels fast, then goes downhill after a while.

 

My guess would be bad O2 sensor if u don't have testpipes...replace it and retune then see what happened

 

Do you have pics of your tune/dyno? Something might be fouling up the 02 sensors.

 

I would look into the tune and o2's.. The reason the car feels sluggish when the cel is on, it's dumping for fuel in when the cel light is on.
