my turbo setup!
okay...first of all thanks for looking at my shiiitttt...2nd here it is...im going single turbo for my g35 coupe...here are the pricing i got...
engine work:
je pistons, eagle rods, darton sleeves, all the studs, bearings, utec ems...plus the installation of all of these mods, taking the engine out and putting it back in..comes to a total of $5350
turbo kit:
garrett gt35 turbo, tial bov, tial wastegate, all FABRICATED piping, FMIC, all the fueling mods($5500),plus the installation of the turbo kit($850), plus tuning ($850)...comes out to $7200
all of this comes out to a total of $12500....this does not include the rps clutch i will be getting and also the gauges, turbo timer, and boost controller...so tell me what you think...
i was going to do the engine work first...let them do that...and then get my car back and drive it for a while to put some miles on it and also give me time to save up for my turbo kit...haha..i aint got 12550 to just throw out..
give me your opinion!!

well good luck b/c those who have done this route before will let you know....its easier to just get a kit...and then build off of that.

yeah, seriously, a lot of design and engineering goes into the turbo kits that are already on the market, so why not go with something that is proven and is backed by a warranty. i dont really see any logic here, but whatever.

yeah, i agree, but i've been on this forum long enough to know that everyone and their brother has big plans to go FI. everyone knows the kit they want, and has the list of all the toys and accessories and all that. but until the actual setup is on the car, then i dont believe a word of it. and usually this kind of stuff comes new members. just my $.02

Do you want to be fast or different. If you want to be fast buy a kit that is already out like Greddy, Turbonetics, APS, ect... If you want to be different dont ask our opinion, just do it.

Even if that price is true I would think you would have to cut some corners to do it at that price. I've tried to cut cost with mods in the past and regretted it, but luckly it was just crappy NA bolt-on's. If you do this with FI your running a big risk of going KABOOM!!! I think its cool you want to try something different but my advise would be to do the research, call some of the reputable shops that are vendors here and also ask questions on the forum that you could find using the SEARCH function on this site.
Good luck.
