I don't know the difference like some people here by looking at them on the engine.

I want to check out my bolts when I get my engine pulled. Thanks
Should be very easy. if they are ARP, they will be studs, not bolts.

That invoice was what the customer received? That's quite a few clerical errors. WTH. One thing I've learned on the forums is to hear both parties before jumping to conclusions though. Maybe Scott was misled by his builder or spec sheets got mixed up. I do know that if I paid for what was on that invoice and got what I saw in those pics, I'd be livid. Sharif, you installed and tuned the motor? Did the customer *think* he was paying for all those higher end parts before you informed him of the discrepancies?

One thing I don't understand is why go to all the effort to build a motor and then crap out on a few places here and there? Which builder would ever put together a motor like that designed for FI? I assume the rods and pistons were per spec.

Jeez.

EDIT: I see Noah's post above - kudos for that - but as others have pointed out, still quite a few gaps. hmmm...

I was going to say and sharif can attest to this: that i took responsibility and my only concern is my customer getting what he paid for, if parts needed to be replaced such as a head gasket I WOULD TAKE FULL financial responsibility and he should send me the invoice and not my customer...and I didn't make a dollar but would still spend my own $ to protect my friends/customers and stay true to my word...

I still cannot explain teh NISMO parts but FWIW I do recall R.A. billing me for NISMO/Nissan parts when time came to pay them

*edit based on this the nismo thing could very well be my fault too*

Yep MY error and lack of paying attention....sharif and myself immediately informed the customer....and it was his decision to install and run this motor regardless

Once again i commend sharif for his diligence in protecting MY customer....this could have all been avoided had i payed more attention

Absolutely. Noah has been a stand up guy during this entire process. When I informed Noah and the customer about what we discovered, he immediately offered to compensate us for engine tear down and replacement with proper parts. Unfortunately, this car is going to a special event, and we literally had two weeks to do the project....start to finish. Since we couldnt rebuild the engine in this timeframe, we all agreed to just tune to 5psi and get the customer on his way.

This is the reason we didnt break the engine down for further inspection. Noah and the customer were informed throughout the entire process. I did return a phone call to Scott, out of courtesy, but I dont think he really wanted to talk to me about this....I am sure he wouldnt like what I had to say.

was the customer invoiced and charged for these things? meaning, a line by line invoice showing they were charged for things not supplied?

FWIW, thanks for coming on here so quickly to clear things up. It takes character to admit your involvement in the invoice and how it lead to some of the misunderstanding and controversy. I also respect that you want to make things right.

Since you don't know about the listed NISMO parts, I'm looking forward to Scott's/RA's explanation for this.

arp or aftermarket head and mains are all studs. so they will have a nut that screws onto the end of each stud. not the allen key (stock head bolts) and inverted torx [made that name up cause thats what they look like, lol (stock main bolts)].

I did some research, and Scat rods come with ARP 2000 bolts. Scat rods are also a couple hundred bucks cheaper than Eagle, and Eagle are already pretty inexpensive...hmm. I wish I could see the rods more clearly, but I just couldnt see it without removing the lower pan and windage tray.

i would like to think scott is an honest guy and felt that way when i have met him, unlike mike a. which made me uncomfortable when i met him. if the motor was built by him or his shops hands, then there would be some explaining to do. but, if it was farmed out and built by the machinist and shipped straight from there, there would still be one more person to point a finger to.
just hoping there is a resonable explanation to this.
