Default Vortech bypass valve can be replaced?

Can the vortech bypass valve be replaced with a BOV? From what I understand it can be replaced with a pull type like the HKS ssqv.

If you can get it to open at minimal vacuum it should work. This would require you to take the spring out though and get a different one from Mcmaster with a lower cracking pressure (vacuum actually).

I guess basically for a different tone. I prefer the hyper pitch rather than the whoosh of air.

Restrict the hole somehow and you will get a whistling sound like the SSQV

It's not supposed to be open at idle. If it is, then you have yours adjusted too loosely. I think the consensus on the forums is about 6-7 threads showing.

Moog...the Vortech bypass -bov is ALWAYS OPEN at idle . It closes when vacuum drops [ more throttle ]

so a BOV stays shut correct? So I'm assuming the only way to make a BOV work is get a looser spring?

I would not recomending for anyone to do this.

need to understand that there is a difference from the BOV and BPV.

you can buy other bypass valves that have diferent sound.

I don't mind you saying that. But tell me why not. It's just that I find that the whoosh will sound will get tiresome.

If you want to get rid of the sound . Re-locate the bypass-bov to the other side of the intercooler and run a hose from the bov back to the intake .

if you do not like the whoosh sound vortech sells a filter that attaches to the BPV witch almost eliminates it

Ohhh no I guess I should have worded it better. I'm looking for a different sound.
