Hmm, most ATI prochargers are a lot less than that. I wonder why it is so much? Is it availible for sale right now? Maybe I need to call them and find out more info???

Default do not get confused

The MSRP will not be like the Civic kit. The addition of fuel managment etc will make this a different kit.

regards

MardiGrasMax:

how is your Maxima VQ motor holding up with that much boost? How many miles do you have on it with that mod?

Thanks, Jeff

Can you explain in detail what engine management mods you are speaking of to protect your motor. I want to FI but engine failure scares me

I DOUBT IF THE Z GETS the V8... I'm willing to bet they will keep the V8's on the Infiniti side, and make it an option on the G coupe.

G45 sounds SWEET! 450Z sounds even sweeter, but I don't think it's going to happen...

Default V8s and V12s

Wow, thanks for correcting me. I guess I had a brain fart, how could I forget all those cars?! **** on me.

Anyways, do you guys really think there will be some 100% sports car (Supra, 350Z, ect) with V8's under the hood? I honestly can't see it.. I mean a SUV, Luxury Sedan, Pickup's are fine, but a sports car with a V8, and from Japan? Sounds too domestic for me. I can't picture something like "V8 Supra" or "V8 350Z!"...

And to the member who said I believe Toyota has a V12 in Japan? Which car is this? Some Toyota dealer told me the new Supra is a V12, bunch of horse $hit in my mind.
I already know for a fact that Toyota will bring back the old Toyota 2000GT from Japan which is one of the most sought after EXOTIC Japanese Sports car ever with a V8! Acura is bringing the new NSX with quite possibly a V8 and a SuperCar from Toyota in the future $100,000+ with possibly a V10 or V12 which already has exsisted for a good 4-5 years now. The V12 exsists in a Luxury sedan in Japan. The car looks like something the President Of the United States would be driven in. I forget the name but its a very long car. The new IS430 will have the V8. V8's are becoming very popular and the manufactures love it because people won't be coming in for all the warranty issues that turbos can SOMETIMES give.

It allows you to run timing on the razors edge by using the OE knock sensor hooked to a knock gauge to fine tune boost referenced timing retard, so boost and high compression can live as one. It also acts as a "safeguard" if knock does develop even after the tuning , by say a bad tank of gas, it pulls timing based on the knock level. I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT!!!! I am 99% sure it will work on the VQ35. Look at the diargams on the website for the Maxima, I helped him prototype it for the VQ30DE, I went to him and he modified his box for my app, he tought me how to use an scope to read the coil pack trigger signals I have coil packs from a VQ35 02' Maxima and they test the same as a VQ30DE, factory test values are also the same for both years in their FSM's. Somthing like standalone is a good idea too, but none of them that I know of have "active" knock control at the level the J&S does. I would never run my VQ this hard with out the J&S!!! Give John at J&S a call and let him tell you about it, hes a great guy and provides the best customer service I have ever seen in this industry.

How much money is the J&S, and can you use it on your next car or is it limited to just the car you have now(can you use it for life)????

A quick study of the Z cars shows a history of FI. I would find it hard to believe that Nissan didn't plan the Z for FI down the road. That is why the grill is so big in the front because the designed if for an intercooler. I think the supercharger is the best way to go as I think it will match the Z's linear power curve the best. I am just going to wait until next year until all the refinements are done. The computer knock sensor system that helps to prevent detonation should allow the Z to run pretty hard as an everyday driver or a track machine.

Default turbo or sc

i guess this is my only question, after the cost of all internals and the price of a turbo/sc kit, which one would come out to be more cost efficient? which one would have more power? and how well would the engine hold up with all this insane power? i know its a bit early to get all the answers but anyone with some insight please let me know

you have to think here
if the vq can handle a 100 shot and more with just a fuel pump, run low 12's all day long.

handle 12+ psi from a good sized turbo and a vortech
all day long and still maintain the fact it puts down OVER 400 hwp and almost 500 ft plbs, while still being stock? you're gonna be fine with 400 rwp in the 350

what some of you don't realize is the fact that nissan builds one hell of a motor, sure its not 2jz strong, but its up there in terms of taking abuse day in and day out.

the ati 350z will crank out 400 rwhp and be fine day to day.
