Default ProEFI / Powerab / Turbonetics: Comparisons w/ VTC on vs off

In one of our previous thread's we were stressing the fact that all of the dynos that were posted were without VTC. Some had doubted the effectiveness of VTC but now that ProEFI has gotten it ironed out we'd like to share some results we've found. The first dyno posted is of a Turbonetics equipped 350z at 9 PSI (Quicksilver's car)

Here's the HP curve (as you can see there are significant midrange gains)

So we didnt clutter the graphs we have HP and TQ on seperate graphs.

Here's the TQ Curve

Now here's what alot of you have been waiting for. We tested the GT37R with and without the VTC on. As some of you know we made 706WHP previously with the VTC off. When we activated the VTC it made the curve look alot more like the GT35R curve (w/ vtc off)

HP Curve (20 psi)

TQ Curve (20 psi)

So yes, VTC does make alot of difference in the midrange.

very nice, its like the entire graft shifts to the left, gaining 100hp/tq from 4-5k, you lose about 20 peak but id rather have the mid range, nice job.

That looks awesome!

so can you adjust the VTC to have the cams at the same position as when they are off between 5500-7K?

I posed a NA dyno with vtc on and off, it was a huge difference, but i gained topend power with it off. This was on a revup with just the exhaust cams off though.

with the GT37R, the reason the loss of peak power is because we ran a little less boost. I should have clarified that a little better in the first post. If you look at the turbonetics layover it was spring pressure both times.

Nice! Thanks for the update. The midrange gains are substantial and impressive.

BTW... I LOVE YOUR NEW AVATAR!!! LOL!!! I was mesmerized by that and had to stare at it for a while before I even looked at the dyno charts!

I guess this ends the debate about variable cam timing and turbos!

If its that cheap I think I might buy a Z and turbo one for myself . I would say expect the kit in full form to be anywhere from $6500-$7000 uninstalled. Depending on how it is finalized in the next few weeks (ems, injectors, turbo etc.) Granted it's slightly more expensive then the greddy kit, you'll see that install is probably half the cost or less. With maintenance being considerably easier, not to mention the power potential is just as great as any kit on the market (APS TT/Greddy TT etc.)

A tuner kit which would include everything except for EMS, Injectors, and Fuel pump should knock a hefty chunk off landing it in your ballpark of between 5 and 6

well i have a utec and a walbro pump....... all i need to come up with is injectors wich arent hard to find, then i guess im in businesss. if the tuner kit lands on the 5k range i would definetly jump on this thing.
