Default Got the Vortech back in today

Hey guys,
I just put the Vortech back in and i am a little worried about how it sounds. Here is a quick video but the sound in person is a little more of a high pitched rattle.

Also, when I first heard the noise I pulled the filter off to make sure the impeller wasn't loose or scraping the housing.

I'm suspecting your idler pulley bearing...

I had my vortech for 5 months know... 30 days after my initial installation, my Vortech when out ! the bearing inside the Vortech...

They repared it and sent it back to me after 30 days... I install it again and the sound was different... and it's still changing... day after day...

I have actually at 90% the same song as you... but, for me, I'm suspecting the bearings of my idler pulley...

any one else opinion ?

take off the clog belt and you will know for sure if its the S/C or not. I just got one back from Vortech and it sounded alittle like the vid. you posted, it had a very high pitched rattle.

I can't see the vids when at work, but what sounded like a pulley bearing to me (from the direction of where I thought the sound was coming from) ended up being the jackshaft bearing

this is all pretty lame of vortech

I wonder if any of their other kits for other cars have been having bad blowers lately or if it's just our type of blower

Yeah, all these issues are not good. When they work, they work great. But when they go bad, it's such a PITA.

ok, I took off the cog belt and the noise went away...so it must be the s/c again. I also check the oil line and it is working so the s/c is def. getting oil. Should I try to drive it around and see how it sounds or is it going to have to go back to vortech??

if you keep the revs at around 1500rpm does the noise go away or get louder?

I reved to 1400-1500rpms and held it there while a friend was listening to the blower. He said the noise seemed to reduce a little, but instead of a slower clanking it was more sped up.

I just realized that i took off the idler pulley and the noise went away. That means it could be the s/c bearings or the idler pulley bearings. Its too hard to tell where the noise is coming from, so is there any way for me to check the idler pulley bearings?

Mine has gotten louder over time to the point of being annoying. When I'm driving 40-50MPH with the windows down traveling near a wall or structure, it sound like a bunch of secada insects outside the car.

I just drove around a little, and only really rattles at my idle @ 900rpms. I got into a little boost and everything sound ok. I guess its only the normal vortech rattle.

I do have one other question,
How many quarts of oil total do you guys put in w/ a vortech?

ok thanks sentry,

If no one has any other suggestions I'll leave it in and just keep an eye on it.

i'd like to raise my idle but i can't remember which years have to be done at the dealership and which ones can be done yourself...(2004.5)???

just don't put in 6 quarts if you don't have an oil pan spacer or larger oil pan or oil cooler etc. Otherwise you might end up with some problems by having too much oil
