Default yet another vortech failure

yet another vortech failure...my car is cursed.

problem #1 - Had it tuned yesterday and didn't have enough duty cycle from the 440 injectors to go past 5500 RPM.

problem #2 - Started the car this morning and I believe the barrings failed, since the SC let out a nasty screeching noise. Unhooked the SC belt and noise went away. I purchased the SC in august, so I assume I have the dreaded barring failure.

anyway it was producing some nice power and boost, before the injectors ran out. Here are the charts

hey man, sorry about your luck. get that thing back to Vortech so you can get it fixed and get it back on the dyno.

the nasty screeching noise is likely your belt needing to be tightened. Is it by chance getting colder where you live? That could be the belt being a little looser after sitting all night in the cold

did you take the filter off and inspect the inner housing for rubbing/scratching?

not yet. I built a custom CAI, so I need to remove the bumper first.

def not the belt. It's ear piercing. + I took off the SC cog belt and the noise went away. Actually it has gotten warmer.

I don't know how the 440s could be the problem. More likely a tuning issue or SS Box problem.

I have a UTEC and the tuner (Mark @ SGP) said he ran out of duty cycle.

Still doesn't makes sense as the 440s are large enough. I assume you are running a Walbro as well?

So then it isn't a fuel issue. Tuning or UTEC is the issue.

thats why hes making the high psi. its his combo of pulleys that make the blower spin faster. Maybe get some large injectors?

Okay here is the obvious question. Why didn't you just get the 2.87 pulley?

Bigger pulley = better grip. The 3.12 + 34T is the same as the 2.87.

how are you tensioning the blower pulley? if its overtensioned(if thats a word) you will cause premature failure. you see it a lot with mustang guys using tensioner bolt down tighteners

sorry to here about the problems. the quickest way to check if the head unit has a compressor problem or bearing problem is to loosen the cog idler pulley, pull the cog belt off and turn the s/c cog pulley by hand. if you feel or hear any abnormal noises investigate further by pulling the air cleaner off (or in your case pulling your bumper and custom CAI off). and inspecting the compressor area with a inspection mirror. check for side to side play in the compressor rotor and scrape marks on the inner housing.good luck.
