t4 turbos?
well ive been lurking around here a while looking and reading and searching about turboing a 350z. i know the motors are good for around 500 before rebuilding with a tune.
i see alot of people go for twin turbo and few for single, i guess those people like the midrange and good response and the vq being a v oriented motor its only natural....
no here is my question i maybe wrong but majority of the turbo kits (turbonetics/aps/ect) the all use t3 based turbo. when i say t3 i mean t3 back side( housing and wheel). my question is why use such a small foot print for a nice sized displacement motor like the vq, when you plot the compressor maps the t3 dose get into the efficency range faster with less boost but falls off at higher rpms and more boost, with a t4 footprint it flows way more at hi end..
yes i know alot of people here dont have funds or dont want the headache of building a motor, so its ok to not want alot of hp and there for a t3 footprint will work well for them. but im curious .. does a gt35r t3 back fall off up top on a z/g on 14psi or more? im sure its spinning on the hot side upper rpm region of the comp map. so i would figure it would not be running to efficent pulling more hot air..
also looking at the 60-1 it falls off toward redline.. so why doesn't anyone offer a t4 back housing turbo? is their something im missing? or is it just that the products are geared for midrange mild hp seekers?
im just think the t4 back side would be better suited for a vq motor then a t3. ..
someone enlighten me please..
