Default Need help on install quote

I did a search and didn't find what I wanted to know. Well My car is being put together and my shop is looking for a quote to see how long it takes to install the folllowing items:

1. Swap in the built motor with timing and accessories intact/completed.
2. Install Greddy TT kit while the engine is out.
3. Install after market clutch while the engine/tranny is out.
4. Install CJM fuel system.

So Shops/Vendors please chime in. Thanks. This is just for install time of those items.

you might get a better idea of what it actually costs by contacting the vendors themselves. just my $.02

edit: are you also wanting to get the car tuned? if yes, then you may want to add a utec or FCON to the equation. dont forget a boost controller.

I just need a quote on the time it takes to install these items, not how much it cost.

I would think it would be 40-50 hrs worth of labor

its gonna take about a week at the minimum. most shops charge about $100 per hour for labor, and this kind of thing usually takes a week to install. however, many shops will just charge you for a certain number of hours of labor for the install, even though it generally takes them more time than what they actually quote you. i would a say for what your looking at, about $3000, give or take a few hundred in either direction, so figure maybe 30 hours of labor or so. i could be off though, so dont hold me to this.

I think that is a good price! I was thinking maybe close to $4000 since most shop here in NY charge $2000 just to swap the engine.

I've seen two people pull a vq35 in under two hours, so it wouldn't take THAT long. Of course there's rushing and then there's taking your time to be thorough.

To pull and reinstall the motor will most likely be billed at 8-10 hrs
2. Install Greddy TT kit while the engine is out.
Figure 25-35 hrs depending on shop experience
3. Install after market clutch while the engine/tranny is out.
Basically no charge for swapping the clutch...maybe 1 hr
4. Install CJM fuel system.
Figure 3-5 hrs of labor for the fuel system -> give or take

the fuel system is a hit or miss on install time. the only part that is really time consuming is running the return line (and feed line if your a CJM S2) from under the car to the top of the tank. I have had times where I get it in 10 min, and I have had times where it took me 2-3 hours to get the damn hoses situated right. Those tefline lines are very nice, but they are not as flexible so it makes them rough to snake thru tight places.

25-35 hours for the turbo install with the motor out? That sounds a bit insane.

At the rates I get charged for the work I get done your $3000 + $500 tune would be WAY too high.... You would have to be more competitive than that to get my business

Edit: to be more specific having gone through complete builds and numerous tunes, you are about 800-1000 bucks too high

I told you to not take it there! Took them two weeks to remove your TN kit!

Sorry to hear that it's dragging on so long. You have alot of money in your car and haven't been able to drive it in months. I know how it feels man!

You must have a great shop up there then, but it doesn't mean that anyone elses price is too high. What AM is quoting is very reasonable.
