Default Fuel leak, but from where??

I have had my TT setup installed for about 2,000 miles and it was installed and tuned by Forged Performance. It has driven flawlessly up till about a week ago. First off one night i smelled gas when i started up my car with the a/c on (this is the only time it has happened). The next day i started smelling a gas smell coming from the front of the car, but there was no change in my AFR so i thought "no biggie, just have a leak coming from on of fuel rail fittings". Well a couple of nights ago i drive my car to the gym and i notice that i am idling at 12.2 afr and cruising at 13.2 (before is was 15.xx and 14.6x respectively).

Ok so here are my observations:

1) Smells like fuel in engine bay after running the car, but i don't smell gas when turning on the a/c

2) I am getting a air popping noise coming from the passenger side muffler (dual exhaust). Sounds kind of like it is mis-firing

3) Wideband is reading a AFR of 12.2 at idle

This leads me to believe that i have a leaking injector o-ring on the passenger side. I am going to check it out this week, but i am working out of town and have to wait on my girlfriend to bring over my tools so right now i am playing the guessing game . Any thoughts?

Access the service panel at the base of the passenger side glove box and check the washer/grommet where the return hose is tapped...thats where my leak was...I have the aam though I'm sure the cjm is similar.

Has your fuel pressure changed? Is a stock O2 loose?

Sounds like you are running rich - why do you think you have a fuel leak? What does your fuel pressure gauge read? I believe the CJM has an analog gauge on the regulator... And what EMS?

EDIT: Just call Sharif - he'll troubleshoot w/ you.

i also had what sounds like the same problem a while back. it turned out to be a fuel line leaking that runs past the passenger side turbo (if your fuel lines are still in the stock position.) because it runs so close to the turbo if it is not heat insulated very well the constant heating up and cooling off will cause the line to fit loosely at the fittings and can cause a leak. i replaced the line and heat wrapped the entire line and shortly after had a hard line made to go in its place. its just alot safer to have hard lines in that area to prevent fuel and heat from your turbo cause a much bigger problem . hope this helps. good luck

Thanks for the reply guys.

Maybe i wasn't making myslef clear in my original post. I am running rich and I am smelling RAW unburnt fuel coming from the FRONT of the car. This would have to be a fuel injector wouldn't it? My car was tuned and built by Sharif and had ran perfectly fine for about 2k miles until this problem occured out of the blue the other day.

Hey Chris, if your nose tells you is the engine bay, that is where to look. If fuel pressure is steady, all signs point to a damaged o-ring. If any air outside air is introduced into the lower inlet manifold, it will cause poor atomization of that fuel, and this rich/stumbling sound you are hearing at idle. Get your nose REALLY close and sniff around. Definatley let us know what you find.

Ok guys i found it. One of my passenger side injectors was spraying fuel everywhere . I removed the engine cover and turn the key to acc and freaking fuel started gushing out the top of the injector. When i removed the injector o-ring it was fubared. A big chunk of the o-ring was torn off. I installed a new o-ring and it seems to be idling good and the exhaust not sounds MUCH better.

I still think i smell fuel, but i am not sure. My afr at idle is now 14.6-15.2 at idle and vaccum has risen from -8.5 (w/ leaky injector) to 10. This is about right isn't it? The injectors now aren't leaking w/ the car running at idle, but i am not sure if they are leaking when the fuel pressure raises. The reason i am unsure of this is because of the fuel smell i think i am still getting. Any thoughts?

It could be left over. I fixed the injector a day after discovering the leak and i am guessing there was some fuel leaked out when the injector was removed. Who knows though i will just have to keep my eye on it.
