The key thing is the tune. Mark at SGP did the tweaking of both the UpRev and the UTEC so that they work together for seamless running of the engine and maintaining a consistent Air-Fuel ratio that does not try to 'learn around' the UTEC.

If you got the money, go with both.

Edit: This was the set-up recommended by both Jeremy at Performance Factory and Mark at SGP, both of who supported/collaborated on our project and provided the expertise for the best results.
Interesting point. You could set the parameters using the Osiris software to the correct a/f ratio and timing you want then tune the Utec to those same values with added resolution. That way if the Utec and stock ecu have any communication issues, the values will still be the same...

Exactly.

The stock ECU when over-written by UpRev retains all of the necessary features for cold start, throttle tip-in, aux. idle increases, etc. and has a 'boost map' based on projected numbers for MAF as a backup to the UTEC. Regardless, the UTEC gives solid data based on 'speed density' calculations from the MAP sensor. With the correct delay during the transition between the two modes there is no noticeable difference when they change over (and you have the backup of the UpRev numbers, if needed). Mark at SGP sorted all of this out on the UpRev flash first then tortured the UTEC to get the smoothest curve on the dyno with the best numbers.

I am definitely not a huge UTEC fan (there isn't anything _wrong_ with it, but I generally don't like piggybacks at all, unless there is no other choice). Having tuned boosted VQ's with the AEM EMS, UpRev and then piggybacks, there is simply no comparison IMO. We do tune UTEC if requested, we just prefer people to use other options when possible.

However, keep in mind that most of your forced induction kits running a piggyback like the UTEC or SS R4 will still require those systems in place even with a reflash because those systems control the auxilary fuel pump, etc. You could get around this with a pressure switch, or simply with a better in tank pump, but since you already have the piggyback with the kit, most people would be better served keeping the piggyback and then doing a reflash. Its a small price to pay when you've invested $30k-$40k in a car, plus another $5k-$10k in mods.
