I would think it would be triggered by a certain boost level. At 20 psi, even if not at WOT, I'd think you're going to need to be pumping that meth in! Good question - will await Luie or Joe to clarify...

Wow! Really nice meth kit.

There are a lot of interesting Meth kits comming out recently.

Just a quick observation,
The oil cooler is right next to the meth pump. You might want to put a little more distance between the two.
The oil cooler is going to heat up that pump quite a bit.

I don't know if it will make a difference with heat being on the pump, but it certaintly can't hurt to separate them a little more.

EDIT: Never mind. I just saw that you had custom brackets welded up to put all that stuff in there.

Nice setup!

For those looking for boost dependent Water/Meth injection, the Turbonetics WIS control unit can be controlled by a MAP sensor to deliver at any preset boost level with adjustible GAIN.

I can't speak for Luie, but my SP kit is triggered by boost pressure, specifically at 11psi for my setup.

I worked with Alky Control to develop this setup for our cars. He configures the unit for the specifics of the engine package. He makes all of the wiring specific to the Z as well according to the specs I gave him. Then I have been fabricating the brackets in a one off method, since it seems no one has the same packaging behind the front bumper (at least not yet).

The kit is a progressive kit that for our application I have set to trigger at around 13-14psi. It sprays relative to boost pressure, more boost more meth. It also starts to prime itself about 5psi before the target to get to operating psi before the target is reached. This makes sure that there is no delay between activation and spraying. As Louie stated, the FCon accepts a trigger from the meth kit that changes the fuel and timing maps automaticly. This also provides a fail safe for the kit in that if the kit does not activate, psi is not built in teh system the trigger is not sent to the FCon and it will stay in its pump gas map and pull timing and add fuel once the boost tries to go up.

This is the best kit I have found and is probably one of 2 kits that I would use if you are planning on using Methanol as a power adder, not just saftey margin. If you want to big you can even add a second nozzle!!! Local Supra guys are running 28psi and 750whp on pump gas with these setups. I guess you could say I just stole their idea and made it work for the Z.

Well, I am not here trying to sell these things...

But, the parts run about $800 and the install time is about 8 hours to do it like Louie's.

Sounds like a lot, but considering you have a fuel cell in the trunk the lines which are all (stainless methanol safe), all of the brass fittings, controller, map sensor, etc... And if you want to install everything "pretty" you have to take apart almost the entire dash.

I like the scaling part but am I being paranoid and the only one concern with basic progressive kit out there? I mean it is great that as PSI goes up then the spray of meth also goes up, but what about RPM? Air flow at 3000rpm is different at 6000rpm. I have been searching for a kit that is LoadXRPM that won't put a big hole in my pocket. So far I have only found one that can do it within my budget.

Wouldnt you want the most meth at TQ peak as opposed to redline?

True but you also do knock on the Higher RPM especially if you are tuned a little aggressive for High end power. If I'm spending $400-$600 for a prgressive kit then I why not get a kit that is also RPM dependent just for safety.

This is a quote from AIS.

I would agree that it would be nice to have this be load and rpm based for more control over the system. But, since it is not, one of the benifits of spraying uptop with that much liquid is it allows you to run more timing like you would in a race fuel tune.

You would be surprised how much power you gain from a few degrees of timing...

Just a shot in the dark, but couldn't you control this through one of the nitrous channels on one of the current engine management systems on the market?

I think I will Try the STS kit and see if it really work as advertised, but I really like your kit were it does a prime before it hit the designated boost spray. I also like that it work with Fcon to switch automatically if Meth is being sprayed... this is great especially if you run out of Meth and will save you lots of $$$$. Do you think Utec can do the same (I doubt it)?

RA tunes? I thought Jim Wolf did all of RA's/VRT's tuning...

Pretty sure he mentioned Sharif would when the car is ready...

What EMS are you running? I've put together kits using the Aquamist HSV and used a PWM output from the EMS (load/rpm base table) to control the injection amount. It will work just as you're describing, allow you to keep whatever base fuel system "fuel" to Meth ratio consistent through the entire RPM range.

If you are going to be running 100% meth you can use the average "progressive" kit on the market that just varies the pump pressure. You'll just have to take out more base fuel as engine torque decline. When you are running a mix of water and Meth things change a bit.
