They are designed for short-term, track use. Ester Synthetics (300V) tend to absord moistures more than other oils. I am not trying to say that the 300v is aweful; I'm just saying that it is not all that it's cracked up to being.

I am running Rotella T-Synthetic 5W40 now. Alot of guys are running "turbo diesel" oils now. I'll tell you how the oil tests out when I get the Used Oil results back from Blackstone.
Andrew,

It's ironic you say that about Motul, yet by looking at the list majority are using Motul.... after hearing about your samples I'm scratching my head.

Sharif, how did you samples come back on the 15w-50 Motul?

well keep in mind that those of us with built motors, especially who run them to high rpms, are not necessarily after the longest change intervals. In fact I change mine more frequently now that its built vs when it was stock

I would like to see all the people running the Motul on FI built motors send their samples off for UOA and post the results.

I am staying away from it after seeing the UOA results that have been posted so far. Redline seemed to fair very well according to the UOA and now the Shell Rotella T-syn does also.

That is how I am now. I change very often. very often my oil still looks not far off from when I poured it, still translucent that is (darker though)

Sharif, how did you samples come back on the 15w-50 Motul?

I got my oil analysis back (see "oil analysis thread" in the engine and drivetrain forum) on the Rotella T-Syn. MY Aluminum and Iron levels (both indicators of wear) dropped significantly from my previous UOA when using Motul 300V.

I believed the hype about Motul 300V. It's $13 per quart.....It's got to be the best. I don't think I'll be switching back. It's not a bad oil, but it certainly isn't the best oil out there, and it doesn't offer better protection than less expensive oils either.

Do some UOAs for yourself using different oils......and make your own conclusions as to what works for you. It was suggested that I try the Rotella T-Syn as an inexpensive oil to try while waited for the results of my Motul UOA to come back from Blackstone. When I saw the high levels of iron and aluminum from the MOtul sample, I decided to leave the Rotella in the engine and see how it works out. I am please with the results of the Rotella and I refilled with more on this oil change. After 3500 miles or so, I send this sample in also to see the results.

I hear that the Redline oils and alot of the Turbo Diesel oils are all high in an additive package called "ZDDP." .....and that's a good thing.

I guess it's user opinion. I've heard of RP spinning bearings and thinning too quick.

BTW Edited first post with the offical list. STICKY THIS ROME.
