don't reuse the valve cover gaskets. they are 11 dollars each side at the nissan dealer.

Did you replace your valve cover gasket? Or did you just recheck it from before....

Hehe. I hear ya... I even heard that people that HAVE replaced their valve cover gaskets STILL get oily spark plugs So I'm reluctant to do ALL that work for nothing....

I dont even thing its necessary.. I have only one plug from the last time still oily.. I re wiped it down.. So ill keep doing that till i have no oil on it.. Cheaper and easier!!

Cant see myself taking off the entire plenum/valve cover just for that bs.. The spark plugs can easily be changed without taking off the plenum.. I hope u know that and arent taking ur plenum off??

what do you need a DYI for. taking the covers off and on is a peice of cake. Replacing the gasket is even easier. dont be scared. you gotta try things.

I have a friend who has the same problem but he's going to sell the car instead of fix it. However, if someone generous sends the parts, I'll be happy to make a DIY video to add to the others

I know what you mean, however, a lot of people aren't as mechanically inclined as the rest of us or just lack the experience. I've seen people make some pretty dumb mistakes and having a DIY for something, no matter how obvious it might seem, will probably help clear things up for someone who has no clue and wants to learn and not screw up something expensive (like an engine).

That requires taking off the entire plenum correct?

Yeah, that's correct. Come to think of it, I did a motordyne plenum install video a few weeks back. You guys can watch it here:

http://www.infinitihelp.com/diy/gsed...er_install.htm

Getting to the valve cover gaskets after this shouldn't be too involved..

We didn't even bother removing the plug since the top of it was swimming in a pool of oil. We ended-up soaking up all of the oil and cleaning the inside of the coil pack. I also put in some dielectric grease to help displace any new/existing oil and ensure the plug contact to the coil pack is good. It's been a few months and everything has been fine.

If someone in the bay area has this problem, I'd love to help out & video the whole process.

torque of the plugs makes no difference

if it is leaking it wont just stop on its own, and if it is the valve cover seal those seals are not sold separately, you have to get new valve covers, only the flange seal around the edge of the cover can be replaced.
