Leaky valve covers...one of mine was like that too when I changed the plugs. Seems to be somewhat common.

that happened to me too, on both of the rear spark plugs. I just cleaned out the area and put it back together. I drove for 5000 miles with the vortech on and 2 oily plugs without a hitch

I thought you could buy them seperate? I know they come in the Nissan gasket rebuild kit.

I know for certain you can buy the valve cover seals seperately. I just did it a few months ago. Got them from Performance Nissan of Duarte.

there are two diffeent type of gaskets, one which comes in the gasket kit is what goes around the edge of the cover, then you have three individual rubber seals that go around the holes in the cover that go over the spark plug tubes, those you cannot buy separately

Touche

I was even thinking myself after I posted: "Why would oil leaking out around the perimeter of the valve covers cause oil to be on the coil pack shaft and plug?"

Just to make things completely clear though, you dont need to buy the whole gasket kit to get the valve cover gaskets. Performance Nissan sells everything seperate.

ok !

I will use a light film of rtv ultra gray around the plug tube seals...

But, do I have to change the one which comes in the gasket kit is what goes around the edge of the cover... or I can simply reuse it ?

thanks !

Watch those torque specs when re-installing the valve covers.
