Default building motor

i am planning on starting the build of my motor in preparation for a turbo kit when i get back from my deployment iraq here in about a month. I have been doing alot of research but would just like some personal opinions from first hand expirence on the products i should use to build the motor. what should i use for rods, pistons etc. i have about 12-15k to spend on the turbo set-up and motor build. just wondering if i could get some opinions?

if you spent $15K, you will be $5-10K short if you address everything properly... beyond that, there are PLENTY of threads that discuss proper components -

Link to one thread just a few days old that is still going

I spent over 10k on my stockblock tt setup. Not only is the kit 5 to 7k but there's fuel system (1.5k), gauges(1k defi), ems (1k), boost controller (400), plus all the random **** you encounter. I agree with ziv, probably you should either save more cash or just run stock block for a while.

My built motor, single turbo and other goodies has cost me over $25,000. Before you start buying parts I would do some more research. Unless you are doing the work yourself you should be able to squeeze buy with 15k.

What power level are you looking for? That will determine the cost of build and parts used

what hal said...+1

but if you are wise with your money you can potentially do it...without all the extras however

for JUST block parts and turbos this is wht it will look like

JUST block is gonna cost you 3000-4000 (w/o installation) in parts
turbos going to cost you 6000+ depending on the kit

then you gotta take in to account the installation, a ECU, exhaust, downpipes, the heads (if you want to do this), cams, oil pump, radiator, and some other things...

ya ive been doing as much research as i can but the internet here sucks and its hard to properly search. i thought about going with the stock block but i just don't want to risk it going FI on a stock block id rather do it right the first time. i guess i wait for my next deployment in 09' to go FI. thanks guys
