it says that the r35 has vr38dett. so, does that DE indacate that its motor has any similarities to the VQ35DE motor? even though they claim that r35 has a completely new engine design

Its not even a VQ series motor. Its a VR38HR or something similar

how would you guys compare it with VQ35DE MID-Sleeved !! the heads looks similar to me with VQ35HR

The VR motor has more webbing on the block to reinforce it and the main girdle is just monstrous on the VR.

The first thing I noticed at the beginning is the dude banging in the pistons with the mallet then rotates the crankshaft. I don’t see any lube so couldn’t that scar the cylinder walls? Is it so little that it doesn’t matter at that point?

And this assembly seems like just another mass produced engine. But I would put my money on this lastin longer than an AMG handbuilt.
