Good point. Im still VERY shocked to see how expensive it is just to boost this car!!! I personally believe that kits for this car are so expensive due to the general market that this car appeals to. You don't see lil punk kids driving these cars, atleast very often. Its mainly financially well off individuals that own this car, and VERY WEALTHY people that modify their Z's... I go through cars like I go through underwear, and this has been the most expensive car to modify BY FAR! And coming from a car show team, this is the LAST car model class I would attempt to compete in! I mean, every Z you see at a Hot Import Nights is just sick!!! And I dont have money coming out of my a**!!! I'm still really debating whether I just wanna bolt on some headers and test pipes and just enjoy saving my money and keeping a realiable DD, or if I wanna go all out and get a really fast joyride (IMO).... Still thinking

Your not going to be saving money by buying headers. I promise ya. I don't think it's to costly to go FI on this type of car. There was a lot of R&D they had to go into it. Then you have demand for products. Even though there's a lot of people FI, there still isn't a hugh demand for each individual company. It's mostly all the other cost associated with going FI.

Why did you get rid of your WRX? After test driving one I think it's way more fun to drive then the Z?

Long story short, I put too much $$ into the subie and it got TOO much attention and not a practical daily driver. Got broken into, navi stolen, couldn't go over speedbumps, etc. I shoulda just taken off the body kit and kept it but its a lesson learned. I just want something with good power at my disposal. I like the bodystyle of the Z much better IMO, but the AWD if the suby was awesome

What's funny is I know a number of people that went from RWD to AWD and said the AWD car got real boring real fast.

I did headers and test pipes and spent almost $1k for parts and labor, I wish I could get a do over on that one. If you can install them yourself thats one thing but the guy that did mine said it was a real pain in the a$$ to do. After it was all said and done the car seemed to rev a little quicker and the car sounded wicked but the dyno revealed only a small gain in top end HP and a loss in low end and overall torque, not a very good yield for the money spent.

I remember one of the major tuners on this forum once saying that if you are seriously thinking about going FI in the future don't spend your money on NA mods, instead put the money towards something like a Utec. You mentioned a plenum or plenum spacer before, that would be good or maybe even supporting mods like a radiator and t-stat.

I know it sucks to wait, it took me over 2 years to get into a position to turbo my car but it was worth it.

you might want to look around at who makes up a large percentage of population of your fellow Z owners - it might surprise you. In fact the demographics, at least from our vendor perspective, are exactly the same for the Z as they are for WRX/STi

Hell we should have traded. I really hope that I get into a position to get a WRX soon. I was shooting for an STI, but screw it, I'll take a WRX and build it up at this point. I wish I could have a do-over.

Yeah, thats what I did. Got a WRX and built it up. And for the same price as an Sti I got a car WAY better than an Sti and just as fast I still can't believe I got rid of it now some lil high schooler had mommy and daddy buy him mine
