Default FI questions

Iv been reading over the forums for a while now. But still im a little scatter brained when it comes to FI on the 350z. So you dont think im a complete tool, I did have a 340whp awd talon that i built and tuned myself with a small turbo on it (small 16g if you know what it is) and went 12.1@112. Anyway my questions relate to kits and perhaps a DIYS type "kit".

These should i hope be simple questions and some dumb ones im sure but here it goes at the hopes of not being made fun of too much.

New to Utec, i used dsmlink on the talon. But would the utec be the best option besides like aem? Ajust timing and fuel control with it? Can it log knock, rpm, temps and such?

What is a conservative timing for FI? I wont be doing this for a while but i just want to get some ideas in my head. I dont want more than 400rwhp probably less, just safe as can be on a stock motor. Shoot for around 11.2-11.5:1 AFR but what about timing?

I have some good recourses at hand for fab work, but manfiolds, does anyone sell cast manifolds for FI for this car? or is it all in kits? My idea was Two evo 16gs with tial gates. But i dont want to have to have tubular manifolds fabed up for this. Or better yet, anyway just to buy the greddy turbos/manifolds and build everything else?

This is just a new thing for me. DSM's were easy for the most part. Get airfuel right, turn timing up if it starts to knock, turn timing down. Repeat for more boost.

Thanks for any help or guidence. I probably wont mess with this for about a year. But i figured id ask my dumb questions right away.

Get your flame suit on, it's rough in here.

Then, read;

There are LOTS of options and LOTS of pre-fabbed equipment. SEARCH is your friend.

I'll help since I have a DSM daily driver and used to have a Built TT Vq35. Conservative timing would be 14 at peak tq and 17 at redline but make sure you get the knock sensitivity right on the UTEC since the stock ecu doesn't listen to the knock sensor past ~5200rpms. Custom fab work on these cars is alot harder because of the space constraints around the manifolds. There is a reason why the shop times for a header install is 8 hours. It's a little harder to tune these compared to the DSM with DSMlink because you can't adjust some things(inj dead time) or datalog as many things until you step up to the better EMU's. If you like the ease of use of the DSMlink then I would look into the Proefi ECU. Same basic premise(stock like ecu on steroids). By the way the Greddy TT uses TD05H18G's.

Thanks, thats what i was looking for. The reason i was thinking about the 16gs, is they are cheap and easy to come by, if i was going to do a 100% custom setup. But I do not want tubular manifolds on this car so thats out and frankly it would be way to much work for the little gain or savings in cost if any.

At what PSI? I think 17 at redline is a little high at 6000+rpm and stock block. Mine is only 14 5500+rpm and around 12 at Peak TQ and 8psi and 93 octane.
OP, yes Utec will give you all the logging you need. If you don't get the tuner then you might need a third party software (Uti or |MPS) to integrate another wideband with Utec logs.
