Thumbs up

I like what you are doing with the reorganization. The product announcement and shop build subsections will hopefully make it easier for guys to find product and shop info. It also gives the vendors/sponsors their own area to promote themselves.

Maybe it will cut down on the noob threads asking redundant questions too.

Is it OK to provide some feedback on this decision here?

I like the stickies being gone - less scrolling. Less exposure for some threads though, and more forums to browse... hmm

EDIT: stickies are still here, booo

My concern is that these new subforums will not get the traffic and exposure that they would recieve on the main forum. I am speaking from the POV of a vendor. Tuning shops are only as good as their last build, and this new format requires potential customers to click to a sub forum, to see our works.

Sharif,

I think your concern is valid. It could be possible in the short term, but IMO a decline in traffic and exposure will only be temporary as members become familiar with the new format of the FI forum. However, you may not see any decline in traffic at all since a lot of guys (myself included) already subscribed to many of these threads before they were moved into the new subsections.

Also, I think the new subsections could potentially bring more traffic for vendors/sponsors/shops because members won't have to wade through pages of miscellaneous threads (including stupid noob threads) to find good info on products and/or shops.

Good move! Much easier to browse/lurk. Where do we nominate threads for moving to the different areas (that's if you want/need our suggestions)?

As a thought, how about a category for DIY installs for the different builds of supercharger or turbocharger installations (for example, my wife [LadyJax] did a good/lengthy step-by-step on a RevUp Vortech install and Muzzy did a great post on a regular Vortech install, etc. etc.). Would make things a lot easier for the noobs (spoken as one who recently transitioned from noobdom).

instead of having the stickies right there at the top of the forum, maybe they could all be contained in the FI faq subforum?

I don't really mind scrolling down real quick in the FI forum, but having 8-10 stickies is a bit much it seems - looks cluttered or busy

One of the big benefits I can see is not having to fight as much for front page coverage. It seems like the sub-forums will be where the Mods really crack down. If you look at the rules it may actually be good for coverage since it looks like any threads that aren't legit will just be deleted or moved and won't take up space in that forum.

Two of my threads were merged without any notice. I meant to post pics and videos of my setup in a new thread, because the original one was an *entirely* different subject. The original thread was on the subject of installing a water cooled turbo (which I did on my own in my garage), and went off topic to the engine build. The new one was pics of the car when it was done.

I also noticed someone edited the title with Performance Factories' name. Neither thread was a "shop" thread as I posted them entirely on my own........
