Default Vortech Boost Leak

i am running vortech with 3.12 pulley, my boost hits ~6psi then fails down to ~4.5psi at around 5.5k rpm, at that time i get a whistling sound not same as the one which normaly comes out of the supercharger, this has a higher pitch, i tried closing the BOV little more but no use, before this i was hitting 8-9 psi.

can someone tell me if this is a belt slip or a boost leak somewhere, or my BOV is damaged?

how did you try closing the bypass valve? with the screw or by pushing on the valve itself?

if it doesnt go away with a tighter belt, you'll have to look/listen for a leak. pretty tough to do.

Luckily my boost leak was from my bypass valve and was replaced by vortech when my bearings went bad.

Did you do any work on the plenum? Add a spacer or a new plenum ? Most boost leaks with a SC wwill be there . Check your couplers also .

i used the screw to close the BOV but no use, do vortech BOV get damaged often?

i a have spacer but am sure its not leaking from there, it was properly sealed.

everything was working fine before 2 days, no leak and i was hitting the correct boost!!

Almost sounds like belt slip, is the belt good and tight?

A little to much trouble for most of us . I just hook this baby up to the IC pipe right before the bov and then cap off the exhaust . Pressurize the whole system and walla , you found your leak .

i had a similar problem, and it was the bpv. there's an o-ring that goes on the valve, it fell off and it wouldn't hold the boost

ya mine fell off before it was tuned. i think that lead to my boost leak. fortunately vortech sent me a brand new bypass valve along with my warrantied blower.

make sure to check and clean your air filter also... I was only getting 7psi and I thought it was a boost leak at first as well until I took a look at my filter... I cleaned it and then regained my 9.5psi
