Contamination in welds do break in the bead but undercutting(to much heat) and overcutting(not enough heat) beads break at the edge just like his. Like you said, it could be a thousand variables but a weld should never break on the bead or along the bead, both are signs of poor welding.
To the OP, it looks like this has happened with these kits before, I'm sure turbonetics will take care of you. Hopefuly they also use some kind of system in their manufacturing to find the common denominator on the kits with broken welds, I'm willing to bet most of them were done by the same welder.

well i dont really have proof of purchase. this thing was installed deff less than a year ago though. The installation took place last summer. It only has 5k miles on the turbo kit and its my DD. I dont know what to show you except to talk to the shop and theyll tell you the date of installaion.

also, when you just said that it eliminates 2 pipes into one, in the newer version. Will that still work with the old version kits or do i have to upgrade.

also, i dont mean to tell you what to do or how to run the company but since it was clearly a welding issue, i think turbonetics shoudl replace the pipe regardless of the warranty. Kind of like a recall. All te old pipes should have came back and new ones should have been shipped out considering we have put trust and several grand into this kit.

if you bought the Kit from VTR and VTR installed it.. your VTR invoice will be proof of purchase enough

Correct we should be able to look it up in our computers or Vinny or Christine may even have a copy of it. I work directly with the Vinny Ten guys so I will touch bases with them.

The new revision does not need any modification to install and like I said it elimintates two pipes, the accordian looking pipe ( 21200 ) and the U looking pipe into one pipe with a flex joint that is braided so it allows more movement.

I gotta say, for all the controversy with the turbonetics kit, it seems like for the most part, they do a pretty reasonable job taking care of their customers, which one might not be able to say for a company like APS.

i am just saying I would rather have a quality setup vs a POS with a better warranty.... to me a guaranteed POS is still a POS

Yeah that is very true. Regardless of a part being warranted or not, when it breaks, you're still going to be out of a car for some length of time.
