Default Used Turbonetics Kit Please help!

All this time, i thought turbonetic kits were reliable.

Heres what happened last night. I get outta work, call my friend, he tells me to wait for him so i pull over on the side of the highway. He calls me and tells me to come to his house. So trying to get on the highway, i boost a little and hit about 4500 rpms when shifting to get back on the highway. Everthings still good. WHen i get off the highway 20 mins later, i notice my car sounds like it has the biggest exhaust leak ever and the car doesnt boost at all. I pick up my friend an come home, jack up the car and this is what i come to see under my car. My wastegate and the pipes just hanging there broken clean off.

Here is a picture to show you. As you can see, the break was clean from the weld. I guess turbonetics needs welding lessons.

ANyone know if i can get a new pipe if i call them and tell them. Is there somekind of warranty on the turbo kit. It only has 5k miles on the kit. Thanx

I doubt it was a problem with their welds. It was more a problem of the piece being strained for whatever reason.

Well, that's an overgeneralized statement. It's certainly one of the hardest to install properly, ala not just a bracket on the front of the motor. It's also probably the most common kit on the road. It's like reading the reviews on amazon.com, people are far more likely to post something if they have something negative to say.

As far as the pipe being broken... The only reason it would break a weld like that is if it were installed misaligned and torqued into place then bracketed down, or if the car were bottomed out hard at some time. 5k of normal operation will not snap a pipe like that.

That being said, I'd give Turbonetics a call and see what they can do for you. Ed is on this forum and can assist with customer service issues. I'll make sure to point them to this thread so they'll know you bash first and ask questions later.

I disagree. Problematic= bad tune / bad install (not nessesary in this case) Turbonetics have good customer service and I won't be surprise if they swap it for a new one for little cost or free.

Maybe you need to read your own title again and your first sentence. You didn 't even check with TN for the fix, first.
