Yea I can certainly understand that...Thats exactly the type of person I am...Never enjoyed having anything "given" to me...Which I know is not the case when purchasing and FI car, but you can see the correlation...

Maybe a single turbo boosted wayyyyyyyy low?? LMAO...I know, I know Ill be looking for more power after 1 month...

You just want to make sure not to buy a boosted car, have a bunch of problems, and end up spending thousands for a shop to diagnose/fix it. However, if you know the guy who's selling it (from these boards or whatever), and the work was done at a reputable shop, then there's nothing wrong with going that route (except the lack of satisfaction of not having done the work yourself).

I don't own my own home, yet my car is FI...and if I had the choice to make all over again the only change would have been for me to buy twins and not a single. To each his own...

[QUOTE=taurran]I have a love/hate relationship with my car. Most of the time I hate it, but for the moments that I'm actually driving and nothing is wrong or breaking, I love it...

I could not have said that any better " perfect "..............

I actually put my FI ambitions on a indefinite hold (not to say I am not doing other mods on the car). I bought my condo about 2 years ago, it took me about a year and a half to complete all the furnishing/custom work. I "may" do something FI-wise this year. So far I have no regrets about my desicion.

Turbo your Z even if the car gets wadded up in a firey crash on a track or your favorite winding road you will always have sweet memories of hauling *** in you turbocharged Z.

Besides everyone knows the world is coming to an end 12/21/2012 so I say drive hard, die young and leave a handsome corpse.
Damn! Maybe I need to have a breathalizer put on my computer so I can't post when I go over the limit but "cheap wine is still fine" right now.

Good luck on your marital and FI endevours, just be cautious in regards to both.

ok dude, #1 your driving in is a $25K plus car.....you could be driving in a 93 civic with a bumble bee can exhaust and two aftermaket rims and two stock rims, so count your blessings........#2 for the time being, go buy a wet nitrous kit and 1 step colder plugs. Get it installed and spray 100shot....I did on my Z with the stock computer and adj. the A/F ratio w/the gas jet on the kit to get it perfect and i made 310whp and 355wtq........with that you can out run stock mustangs, camaro, and some corvettes........that should run you less than 1500 bucks.....if your interested PM me and i will give my jet #s that i ran..........#3, After you buy your house and everything you gotta get intially when you get married, because its the right thing to do and you'll learn if she ain't happy you ain't happy, then after all that if you have good credit do what i did, i got a credit card with 0% APR for 12months, requested a limit increase to have enough room to do my build, after the 12months i balance transfer to another card for a $90fee, but i make sure the card i transfered to has 0% APR for the next 12months, and then keep repeating until you pay it off........i know it sound alittle out there but the fact is that it makes great financial sense b/c you always get credit card offers in the mail, and the min. payment is like $180 amonth, so it is very affordable..............but its just a suggestion on how to acomplish your dream

Before I even bought my Z I was ready to buy a house and do the responsible thing. Then I said F'it. Bought a ZR, Modded, Boosted.

Do I regret it? Hell no. Why? Well, first off the house would have tanked here. Second off, being responsible is great, I've spent my life doing it but working and saving for a tomorrow was killing me. So, I started to just enjoy it.

Well, I do know your pain my friend, not so much as you tho! lol I'm married with a 4 yr old son and a daughter due any day now. I love my Z. My wife and i should be closing on our house in a few months. After that, I have full reign to start saving for FI. For now, I'm content with prowling the FI forums on here and G35driver.com. I'm getting all the research up before jumping in. I figure that is the smart thing to do...oh and plus my wife would kill me. hahhaha

I was able to "refinance" my car loan by putting it on my credit card for 1.99% for the life of the balance. Since I'm paying $60 less a month doing that, i figured I might as well toss a few more grand on it so I can get a jump start on FI I know I know, i'm committing multiple FI sins here, but oh well.

I know exactly how you feel, but more...

Im 23 with my long term career set, making roughly $80k a year. I got my $10,000 bonus at Christmas time and was salivating at the oportunity to purchase a turbo setup. Ive had mustangs/lightnings in the past and the Z is just slow compared to what I had. Ive been dating my GF for 2 years now, and I know she is the one so I had to go spend 7K on a ring. Luckily her parents put up $6K for the wedding and my parents are loaded so they are chipping in for the rest. However my fiance is about to graduate from UTA and has $15K of student loans to pay, we are about to purchase out first house in August, and I want to pay off the Z. So unfortunitly for me I'm going to have to wait for any fun. These boards are depressing for the younger (typically not as financially set). I think it also has to do with the fact that our cars don't get much faster with typical bolt on parts on the cheap like mustangs/lightings did. The car itself just isn't setup for low cost mods.

OK I hijacked your thread, vented, and Im done.

You only live once. If you even live to be 60 years old, there will be no turbos and you'll be too old to drive fast.

I had the same urge also going to car meets & race spots everyone else was boosted but me . FI is all about fun & games. Yes eventually your going to want to built the block to gain more HP. If its something you love and you can maintain a turbocharge car, GO AHEAD remember you only live once so go all out. I'm 20 I don't have any bills my dad pays my rent & car insurance. My car is currently at Performance Factory getting APS tt

wont be too long till you are driving around in your APS G35 man.

FI just has to be done right the first time and there will be little to no issues.

just make sure you take it somewhere reputable to have the work done.

Heh, heh,........you are only young once but you can be immature forever, Taurran. Lots of us can and do drive VERY fast, regardless of age, with lots of sneaky tricks picked up over several decades of life. Have fun when you're young but don't stop because of age. The nursing homes are full of people who accept limitations and when I see 'em in the ER the first thing I tell 'em is 'You're younger than me and got no reason for feeling so sick'.

To the OP, yeah, be responsible and keep her (and consequently yourself) happy but don't forget to have fun every damn day. This ain't no dress rehearsal.

Alot of the NH pt's I see are pretty jacked up but most of the others seem to be there for narcotics and a warm blanket. ER seems to be mostly used as a free clinic or an opium den anymore. When I was a kid I had to be messed up before I was taken to a clinic much less an ER. The other night a woman brought in a 6y/o because he had a nightmare and was scared. I always love it when someone calls the ambulance to bring them in for an EARACHE!!!
If I was in charge of healthcare reform I would make it to where if you have more than 3 frivolous visits in a year your last visit you would get treated with IV sodium pentothal, undiluted potassium chloride and Pavulon. Ok maybe that's a little harsh, I guess working 15years in ER and Critical Care has left me a little jaded.

Sorry to go OT, have a nice day.

Quite simply *** FI.... It cost way to much, takes to much time, and overall a major headache. Just buy a fast stock car, and add bolt ons.. best way to go. I have waited 7 months for my car to be done... still not done. Bottom line is to much time and money.
