Yeah, but his intercooler setup is different than ours.

That means the BOV is set tight to allow for it to not creep open at higher boost levels. This is usually normal if you are pushing some decent peak boost. The Tial BOV my friends supra has wont even open until 11psi. This is to allow it not to creep open on those 30-35psi runs .

I just tried adjsuting it. If I lesson the spring pressure it will open under boost. I am going to try the new Synapse Synchronic BOV. It is a piston type BOV and is held closed by boost pressure.

hey sorry to hijack thread, but one of the guys at the meets stated that if a cop sees your intercooler, except for vortech, they could impound your car, is this true? also josh are you installing the kit yourself?

Yeah, iv heard about them. Honestly if its only surging at 3-4 pounds it will take a while to do any damage to the turbos, unless you just constantly put it at that load. I would just try not to stay in that area if I was you.

yes i will be doing all work minus the welding of bov flange and tuning.

so from what i am looking at here.
i will require a flange for steel and not aluminum correct?
is the provided heat shielding adequate or should i purchase more and wrap everything else?

another question is does anyone have a baseline tune for the utec for the greddy tt.
i am planniing on getting it tuned but gtm is a looong drive away

Just curious - how did you test to see it was bleeding off boost when you adjusted it?

And yeah... Unfortunately many times you'll get a little surge on a standard BoV under partial boost. I don't think it's too much to be concerned with at low boost pressure. If it were surging at full boost then I'd be more concerned.

I'm interested in seeing how one of those Synapse BoV's work out. You should post up a review when you get it on there.

I had two BOV on my current set up but took one off. We Alberto and myself found out after driving driving each others car that when you shift fast that with two BOV you go into some serious Neg Vac, Now I have one BOV and can keep my boost (when shifting fast) right at 0 vac, and that equals faster spool when racing. 2 BOV IMO is a show thing def hurts you when racing (drag racing).
Some people will say that you choke with one BOV when running high boost 20psi plus....Whatever!

Obviously +1, its the "cool" ricey thing to do though, so many go for it.
