Seriously though, where does SSP meet?

I don't want to join or anything but I'd be down to hang out with some ST Z's from time to time.

Good luck with everything and when you want more power, come talk to me and Performance Factory!
Big dog? You mean "big tires"?

I had the AAM oil pan spacer for mine, but there were issues with the oil supply, so we just capped the AAM oil pan. The oil pan is good for the extra quart or so of oil, but install the oil line as the instructions say.

^ some people just can't be nice about things

Keep us updated on the progress Chris!

Oh, and about the 5th gear issue - is it an issue with 5th and 6th? Maybe the shifter plate needs to be readjusted, since the tranny came out??

It is mainly just 5th gear I have a real problem getting into.... 6th gear is still a little tough the get into, but not NEARLY as difficult as 5th... Do they have to yank the tranny out again to readjust that???

How is my tranny going??? Everything was FINE before I did the clutch. I had NO problems whatsoever with shifting into ANY gear before I did the clutch.... Going into 5th and 6th was smooth before I did the clutch....

Very good idea, this is exactly what I had done. I had my local dealership, who are actually very cool, change out my gearbox a couple of weeks before my install. It was a little hassle, but ABSOLUTELY worth the trouble.

How is a clutch going to cause grind? Think about it. Its happened to a shitload of people on this forum, so why do you think you'd be so lucky?

The reflash is fine. Just make sure you modify the fuel system precisely as the instructions say and it will put your car in perfectly safe AFR's. Always run the car on the dyno to insure proper operation and install a wideband AFR gauge regardless of whether you're on a custom tune or not. You wouldn't just put a base map on a car and not log the results, so why anyone would expect a reflashed ECU to be spot on wihtout verification is ridiculous.

A tunable system is nice, but the reflash is just fine with proper install and verification. People here just like to mindlessly repeat what they've heard because they don't know any better by saying it doesn't work.

But why would I take it to the dealership?? So they can quote me a SEVERAL thousand dollar repair for a new tranny? My car doesn't have a factory warranty anymore... I'm just bringin it back to the shop that installed my clutch on Tuesday...

my advice to you is to shift slowly when you shift 5th.. it will make your shifts smoother and your tranny last longer.. its too bad you didn't check this site before your car made it to 60k or bought extened warranty..

the Z tranny is on version 009 .. mean they have made 10 revisions of it.. with a pretty cool dealership armed with the right amount of knowledge.. you maybe able to convince them its a nissan problem .. no dealership is going to lie to you and tell you they don't know there is a tranny problem.. everytime they replace a tranny nissan compensates them

dude.. you have 26k? whre the hell did you get that you are out of powertrain warranty?

yes.. you can bring it back to the shop.. have them tell you nothing is wrong with your tranny.. install your turbo kit.. then have the shop tell you to go to nissan.. then have the dealership tell you that your turbo kit caused the tranny to go.. knowing damn well you had this problem before you went turbo.

but hey.. i have no idea what i am talking about.. you want to know something impressive? i had my tranny replaced under warranty for free with Twin Turbos on my car.. how about that eh?

i will tell you this though.. its a ***** driving on the highway with only 4 gears

Doh! I totally forgot that the tranny would be covered under the power train warranty! Whew!!! Thats a relief. Well first things first, I'm gonna have my shop take a look at the clutch and see if it can be adjusted. If its the tranny, then off to a nissan dealership

i know you are going to go the shop anyway.. but let me save you a headace and tell you that grinding gears has nothing to do with the clutch.. especially if it only happens in 5th gear

on Z trannies they either blow 3rd gear first.. or 5th gear first.. i believe the gears separate.. there has been a couple threads with pictures on this

my tranny was grinding for a couple months before it went.. i woudl have to do a slow 4th to 5th shift not to hear it grind.. then i race an STI one night and did a hard 4th to 5th and there went 5th and 6th

OP, Nissan of Brandon is pretty mod friendly as they are a huge sponsor of the 350z club of FL which is based over there.
