Sweet man get some pictures up asap. I ran an open w/g on my Eclipse and I hear you on how loud they can be, its crazy! Definitely badass but it might get the wrong kind of attention. Congrats on the setup, I'm very jealous.

I'm running a stock block right now. They charged me about $1700 for the install, (after taxes, parts, little details) but it was a VERY nice and clean job Couldn't have asked for a better install job

Open wastegate

They fitted the coolant lines with a nice mesh sleeve. Looks clean

Nice looking install, but I noticed they left out the turbo heat shield that comes with the kit. I think this is very important to have. Do you know what they did with it?

The shop said that the fitment of the heatshild sucked, so I guess they decided not to install it...... I'm sure they still have it at the shop (I hope!) What are the risks/cons of not having the heat shield? Obviously it reduces engine bay heat, but what else?

That turbo is very close to that pipe. I think you may have to trim the heat shield to get it to fit snugly but it will fit. I'd recommend taking off the intake pipe, getting some clippers to trim it back around the base, then using utility wire to fix it in place.

Ok. I will tell the shop to put it on.... Is it a time-consuming process to put the heatshield in? Also, is it really bad to ride around without this heatshield on?? The soonest I can get to the shop is this Tuesday....

the engine makes power because of the cold air rushed through the charge pipes.. does it make sense to you to have the cold air coming out the Intercooler to the charge pipe to then be heated up again by the hotside of the turbo right next to it? without that heat shield you are robbing yourself of major power.. the design itself to have the hotside turbo next to the charge pipe was dumb in itself.. putting a heat shield was putting a bandaid on the design.. you my friend have now removed the bandaid and are running around in a diseased lake filled with bacteria with an open wound

Good point Doug.... I've heard that they sell aftermarket Turbo Blankets that are REALLY effective in reducing heat... Does anyone know where I can find one and how much they cost?

Actually, the pop gets every bit as hot from the point at which it bolts to the front timing cover of the motor. The intake plenum gets hot as well just from normal operation. It's not a deal breaker by any means but a nice feature to have.

Your car made 388whp without it which is very nice on a reflash. I don't think it will majorly harm anything.

It should take the shop no more than 15-30 min to get it in there depending on if they take the intake piping off.

I can tell you first hand that's an overstatement. I have a turbo blanket and while I can pop the hood and put my hand on it and it will be luke warm to the touch, the intake piping will still be hot. Even with a blanket on, the motor produces a major amount of heat in itself that will heat up the charge piping in the engine bay.

Let a TT'd car sit and idle after heavy use and it'll get hot as well.

so just a lil update... Ive since added a PTP turbo blanket (makes a HUGE difference in engine bay heat!!!) and a Turbo XS rfl BOV. Ive had a couple SES lights for codes 1273 and random misfire. I switched the spark plugs to the one step colder NGK plugs. And I swapped the position of the O2 sensors, and the SES light is gone! HUGE thanks to S&R for the entire install and customer service. They catered to me as if I was their ONLY customer!!! They cleared my codes within minutes of arriving at the shop four days in a row and they did an awesome job of problem resolution. Anyone in Florida needs to go to this shop!!!

Hey congratulations on your new kit. I have a UTEC, wideband, electronic boost controller (from my last car), clutch, flywheel, and LSD sitting in my garage and I've got $5000 burning a hole in my pocket. Posts like this make me want to order a kit right now.
