500whp+ and looking for traction on the street?

I am looking for a street traction option for the rear of my sedan? I currently have 285/30-19 T1Rs that fit the rim and dont rub with a +49 offset. I bet I will need to roll the fenders with these, but thats okay if they fit the rim.

Drag radials don't work well on the street, as i've found. They only hook when you do a burnout to heat them up. On a normal launch or a roll with no burnout you will spin them just as bad as normal tires.
I'm thinking of just selling my 18" wheels and spending that money on these tires.
One question - Does anyone think these tires will be benefited by a small burnout in any way?

They are R-Compound tires, and while I haven't used these tires yet (one more week to the next track weekend!!!), all R-Comps (in my experience) need a little bit of heat to reach max stickiness. Whether that heat comes from a small burnout, or a lap or two on the track, I don't think matters, but they will need some heat to get the max stick

Taurran, as Dave said, they will acheive maximum performance at about 180-200F tire temp, but even when cold, will outperform any other regular street tire.

Finally the R888's are available in 19's, so we put a set of 235/35/19 (nothing else available) and 295/30/19's on a set of Volk GTS 19X9.5 and 19X10.5. The new R888 is one step above the legendary Toyo RA-1
This thing hooks up 95% in 1st gear, and 100% in gears 2-4. On the street, you can take some rediculous liberties with the gas pedal and the steering wheel. It's just a retarded amount of traction for the street.
This NOT designed to be used as a drag radial, rather, its a road race tire. But it sure does hookup nicely on the street.
We have run the 18's version on a GTR and put about 6000 street miles on them....still have quite a bit of tread left. Obviously, this is a DOT race race, so treadwear is 80, and don't expect a ton of miles out of them.....but should be great for the 6 month summer/fall driving season. I will report back after the customer has put 5000 miles on the, and we'll see how they are wearing. I am getting about 10K street miles from our Pilot Sport II's, so I could live with a 6-7K change interval, in exchange for 100% traction.
Just some more options out there, for guys looking for good street traction to control all this power!
Edit: Warning...not a very good wet tire...so be careful in the rain.

no...you'll probably see traction as early as late 1st...who knows... but that will be "heavy" on the axels ....
are this DOT legal and do they come in 19s?... i liek the fact that this legal R compounds also have 100 on threadwear rating... which is a lil meaningless but still a higher than other DOT r-compounds

Sharif thank you for making an official thread for all the z guys about these tires. I know there had been some talk out there about them before. But there was never anything official. So im glad you are "late" but you are still helping alot of people out.
This is my car which is an 06 Track, and I have only put about 50 miles on these tires,
as I just got my car back from Sharif late yesterday. I cannot begin to tell you what a
difference it is to drive. Had traction problems in 1-3rd gears and even the smallest
bump in the road would let 4th spin too. Always was going sideways and couldn't
outrun a mo-ped because of traction issues. The car put out 540 on Sharif's dyno
with 14 lbs. boost. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! These 888's stick like glue and the temp
here is about 40-50 degrees, so when summer rolls around, they will get better
if that is possible. What is the point of having the power if you can plant it (like
I had been doing for the last 6000 miles). These tires will not disappoint anyone
looking for traction and the car handles sooo much better and is so responsive
through the turns. No more peddling of the throttle for a change! Gas and GO!

Maybe they will get off their butts and make some

Also check your camber if your running -2 degrees camber in the rear on the street, your going to spin in 3rd all day long???
little OT ===Just took a ride in a bone stock 08 viper "Bone Stock".... My car is weak sauce.

I personally like slightly taller than stock tires. 295/30 is exactly 26". I run 27" which is what I like, these have a smaller sidewall than I like to see, it would increase my rear wheel gap. Stock for me was 26.7" (track rears)...305/30 would be small also sitting at 26.2".

From Toyo's site:
General Proxes R888 setup guidelines:
* Operating Temperature: 140°F to 220°F, optimum around 200°F
* Hot Inflation Pressures: High 30s to Low 40s (psi)
* Camber: -2.5° to -5.0°
* Caster: As much positive as possible
* Click here for recommendations for proper use, handling and storage of this tire in colder climates.
The camber recommendation is interesting? Anybody know why they would recommend this?
